Pelosi Responds to Clinton Donors' Threat ("do whatever it takes" to protect House candidates)
Source: Washington Post

Indirectly responding to a threat made by top fundraisers for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pledged Friday to "do whatever it takes to protect" Democratic House candidates from falling victim to the exceedingly nasty and protracted Democratic presidential primary.

"We can't allow the tension and pressures of a spirited Presidential contest to spill over and harm hard-working Democratic candidates running to strengthen our Democratic majority in the House," Pelosi wrote in an e-mail sent to a vast list of Democratic donors and supporters. "I will do whatever it takes to protect our candidates and make sure their campaigns to drive change forward don't skip a beat."

And Pelosi urged potential donors to make a contribution to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee before the March 31st deadline for the current fundraising quarter.

Her appeal comes two days after a group of 20 Clinton backers sent a letter to Pelosi chastising her public position that superdelegates should support the will of the people -- in other words, vote for the candidate with the most pledged delegates.

1. Nancy Pelosi is a major disappointment
She has proven to have the spine of a jellyfish when it comes to standing up to Bushco.

We have some incredible news, we're doing a PLAY !!!

On her way back from the Take Back America Conference last week
Shirley Golub, who is challenging Nancy Pelosi for the Democratic
primary nomination in San Francisco in June, heard from a playwright
working with impeachment scholar Bruce Fein on a new impeachment
passion play with a socko surprise ending that will have you on your
feet clapping and cheering, and Shirley has stepped up to finance a
full legit theater production of this inspirational and educational
new play, and with your help we can make it happen in a couple weeks.

Impeachment Play Donations; http://www.shirley08.com/donations.php

Picture this scene in your mind.

The audience is cast as the members of the U.S. Senate hearing
evidence in the impeachment trial of George Bush and Dick Cheney.
With all the damning evidence presented of their many high crimes,
the lies to go to war, the illegal wiretaps, the secret torture of
detainees, the outing of a CIA agent, the law defying signing
statements and everything else, it looks very bad for Bush and Cheney
for anyone with a fair, open and patriotic mind. But Bush still
remains arrogant, and at the end he taunts the audience, thinking he
will still be able to skate away from the whole thing.

"And that's why I'm going to finish my term as your president . . .
and who's going to stand up to stop me?"

And there is silence in the theater. And then . . . we hear a single
voice from the back of the audience, calling out in loud voice from
the dark.

"I . . . I will stand up. I will for impeachment."

And whole audience turns their heads to see who this person is who
has stood up to protect and defend the Constitution.

And then we hear another voice from the other side of the audience,
just as brave and courageous,

"I . . . I too will stand up. Now there are two of us standing
together. If that's all it took to make it happen, to just stand up
in our seats right now, will we do it?"

And then another and another, and it turns in to a standing ovation
with everyone clapping and cheering, "Impeach, Impeach!!!".

THE END of the Bush/Cheney nightmare.

Have you got a lump in your throat? Is that amazing or what? To have
an inspirational mobilizing vehicle, where people can actually
visualize what it would be like to make impeachment happen now, with
your help.

Impeachment Play Donations; http://www.shirley08.com/donations.php

We have already heard from many actors and directors in San Francisco
when the production will be staged. In the next day or so we will
make a committment for a theater, and this is going to happen in the
next couple weeks, if we have to build one from the ground up.

And have we have to move fast, because time is so short. Just
yesterday, after a visit from Dick Cheney to Saudi Arabia, so
obviously planning for nuclear first strike on Iran, the Saudi press
published articles warning people on how to prepare for the nuclear
fallout, should Cheney hit Iran with nuclear bunker busters, with
fallout that could kill millions of people.

The only hope we have is to get Congress to immediately commencement
impeachment hearings to head them off at the pass. And the only way
to do that is to have such a serious challenge to Nancy Pelosi for
her own seat, that she has no choice but to act.

This works. Bruce Fein, the impeachment scholar participated in
deliberations in the Reagan administration where the only thing that
kept them from doing something utterly crazy, was the fresh knowledge
from the Nixon experience that impeach will happen if you step that
far over the Constitutional line.

And nobody could be further over that line than George Bush and Dick
Cheney. Did you hear him over the weekend? He was confronted with the
fact that 2/3 of the America people (and that's enough to convict on
impeachment in the Senate), opposed the war in Iraq. And did you hear
what he said, "So?" And it's because in their arrogance they don't
believe that we can get it together to force our Congress to act.

But we must. We must get this impeachment play produced, and make it
the biggest theater hit that San Francisco has ever seen. And spread
it all over the country. We must rally behind Shirley Golub, who has
already raised $50,000 dollars for this historic primary challenge
against the speaker of the house herself. And we must inspire more
and more such primary challenges while there is still time.

And Congress will act. They will, They will. If you will speak out
now and help.

Remember, with every donation of $100 or more, Shirley will send you
one of the new "IMPEACH BOTH!!" baseball caps. And if you can donate
$1,000 or more to help change the course of history, you get one of
Shirley's custom embroidered baseball award jackets, with the "I'm On
The Table" message.

So please, donate what you can. Or if you cannot, just send this
email to everyone else you know, to spread the word that we are about
to save our country and the world.

Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed
to be ours, and forward this alert as widely as possible.

19. Well I would say the speaker of the house should have one of the best offices!
That is the protocol there and I'm sure the Reich Wing nuts made it look bad for her on that just like the made a stink about her travel arraignments being #2 in the line of succession! But I have a bone to pick with her about ITMFA!

See 17 Above and.

Yet Another Crack At The Telecom Issues, Golub (v) Pelosi…and some graphic commentary!

And yet one more time, we need to hold the line against the criminal
push from the White House for letting the telecoms off the hook for
knowingly collaborating with their criminal actions in completely
disregarding the law to wiretap million of ordinary peace loving U.S.
citizens.

Please call your House member yet again, tollfree at 800-828-0498,
800-614-2803 or 866-340-9281, and let them know how disgusted you
would be if they were to cave in yet again.

I do not wish to speak ill of Cindy Sheehan, but I have said it before, and I’ll repeat it now: Her campaign against Nancy Pelosi is going nowhere. There are too many distractions and diversions in her campaign and life, so I am asking you to support a serious candidate focused of the Pelosi Election.

She is our best hope to dump The Speaker so please consider visiting the action page that Shirley Golub, seriously challenging Nancy Pelosi for the House seat from San Francisco, has created to send an email to your House member to back up your phone call.

http://www.shirley08.com/petitions/pnum811.php

Here's what Shirley Golub has to say on the subject:

No telecom immunity, or, for that matter, to anyone who cooperates
with the illegal demands of the Bush administration. Warrantless
wiretapping is a violation of the people’s right to privacy (please
read the 4thamendment). When an administration takes an oath of
office and then proceeds to act in an irresponsible manner, ignoring
that oath, those corporations and/or individuals who assisted must
not be "forgiven".

And certainly a request for a retroactive action additionally causes
those who might consider illegal activities in the future to believe
that their "indiscretions" will be pardoned. Our internet and phone
communications have been violated, and these acts have been admitted
to by Bush. Congress must defend our Constitution and stand strong
for our rights.

And we should add some choice words of our own:

What we have in the House of Representatives is a leadership problem at heart. There has been no "new direction", a worn out threadbare slogan if there ever was one. It's just been the same old endless caving in and bending over. And the best and surest way to STOP it is to support real progressive primary challenges against the weak-kneed and ineffectual, like the challenge that Shirley is mounting now.

Shirley Golub Video: http://www.shirley08.com

On the page above you can see the Shirley's latest YouTube video, running right now in heavy rotation on MSNBC cable in San Francisco, calling on her fellow citizens to join her in a weekly impeachment and primary challenge rally in front of Nancy Pelosi's district office every Thursday.

And hundreds every week are.

Maybe you can't be in San Francisco this Thursday at noon at 450 Golden Gate Ave. But you be there in spirit by making a contribution to Shirley now, to run more and more of these TV spots, and print ads, and to put her on the radio and everything else with her "I'm on the table" message.

Or if you would, just send this email to other people you know, to encourage them to visit Shirley's site, you can help her to spread the impeachment now message, and inspire other candidates to step forward and do the same thing in their own districts. For if the
speaker of the House can be successfully challenged, why not any member of Congress who still cannot find their spine with both hands?

My Heart's in San Francisco

From the website of Shirley Golub:

"What kind of peace do we seek? Not a PAX Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children -- not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women -- not merely peace in our time but peace for all time."

John F. Kennedy (1963)

This wonderful woman, apparently well-financedm but in need of your help just as everyone running for office is ---- is launching a run against Nancy Pelosi for her Congressional seat. Ms. Golub is also helping to finance an IMPEACHMENT PLAY in San Francisco. Time is short.
The time for action is NOW.

COME ON, WEXLER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you even pretend to be an artist, throw a few bucks in the hat for Shirley Golub

8. That's what I was thinking.
I thought the OP made it sound like Nancy has had a long term objective this whole time, which I think she has mentioned on several occasions, and that she is ready to fight to make sure it is achieved. She wants her damn filibuster proof majority, and someone is threatening to screw it all up for her.

7. As much as I think the Clinton Donors should piss off
Since they want to try to force a Clinton nomination against the will of the people, I disagree with Nancy that giving money to DLC Clintonite Rahm Emanuel's DCCC will help in anyway. Schumer with the DSCC and Emanuel with the DCCC railroad progressive candidates out of races in the primaries and endorse and fundraise for DLC centrists JUST LIKE CLINTON who end up fucking the direction of our party and continuing the spineless kowtowing to Republicans.

Take my advice here, don't give the DSCC or DCCC a DIME. Find progressive groups like MoveOn, Blue America or PDA and donate through them if not to the candidates themselves.

10. I don't think that is very good advise at all.
I think each organization brings very different goals and methods to the table, and I think most of us here are smart enough to figure out which ones we prefer.

15. "Most of us here"
Sure we might get it, but to the inactive average Democrats they never see the progressive candidates or hear their voices because the DSCC or DCCC has already helped frontload the DLCers with so much cash that they seem like the important mainstream candidate just by the amount of ads they can run and the exposure they get by having their names attached to big name speakers brought in to fundraise for them by these organizations.

The last thing we need are more spineless, centrist, Republican-cave in artists running and those are the people Schumer, Emanuel and big money corporate donors want because they can be controlled.

With them it's not about the good of the people, it's about doing what's best for their corporate lobbyist pals.

14. Who gives a crap what she thinks or says??
Not me. She is a spineless jellyfish and I can't stand her. We gave her what she wanted and she stabbed us in the back. I don't care if she wants Clinton to get out of the race. Obama and Clinton are both better Democrats than she is. She also should have remained neutral in this primary race. She did not come right out and say it, but we know she is for Obama. Since she is the leader to preside over the convention, she should just keep her mouth shut. Her allegiance to Obama does not make him look good.
