Rove disputes allegations about Alabama governor (Siegelman )
Source: AP

WASHINGTON - Karl Rove is calling CBS a "shoddy operation" for airing a story suggesting that he influenced the prosecution of a former Democratic Alabama governor.

He says the GOP campaign worker leading the accusation is a "complete lunatic."

In an interview with GQ magazine, President Bush's former political guru says he has never met Alabama attorney Jill Simpson. She is a one-time Republican campaign volunteer who has claimed that Rove tried to sabotage Gov. Don Siegelman's career.

CBS has stood behind the "60 Minutes" program from February in which Simpson said Rove asked her to find evidence that Siegelman was cheating on his wife. Siegelman was convicted on corruption charges in 2006.

Did Bush** loan Rove HIS brain this week?

Oh wait, that would require that Bush** HAVE a brain to loan....

Anyway, Rover isn't doing himself any favors with his imbecilic prattle.

6. Careful, Karl...don't bite the hand that feeds/fed you...
Wasn't CBS one of the "news" networks that trashed Dan Rather after "Rathergate?" And hasn't CBS helped you and your gang achieve your goals (Iraq war lies, Plame outing, stolen elections, etc).

And now CBS is a "shoddy operation?"

Tsk, tsk, Karl...

17. The feeling dogs me that CBS is not ready to fold to Karl
again over this story. If they stand firm, the dam will break.

Does Karl own a cigarette boat?
I think every day he gets up, looks out his Florida seaside window, and wonders if Paraguay will be a good retirement community.

Why would they? They have a bottom line to protect.

WE will force it.

12. Notice how this lying SoS tap-dances around the truth...
Rove "says he has never met Alabama attorney Jill Simpson"

IIRC from the 60 Minutes interview, she said she received phone calls from him, not in-person instructions.

BUSTED!

And is anyone surprised?

13. If you read these two paragraphs carefully, you'll see he's telling the truth, partially...
Simpson, who has given sworn testimony to congressional investigators, has claimed she overheard conversations among Republicans suggesting that Rove pushed the Justice Department to go after Siegelman, who was convicted on corruption charges in 2006.

"She's a complete lunatic," Rove said in the interview. "I've never met this woman. This woman was not involved in any campaign in which I was involved. I have yet to find anybody who knows her."

What he's saying is that 1] she's not a team player, and none of his operatives know her personally, and 2] she is crazy for repeating what she overheard because the GOP will destroy her for not being a team player.

He's never met her? Who gives a shit. That's not the point. He doesn't know anyone who has worked with her? He doesn't know everyone. He's just put together a string of statements to paint her, but he's not denying that he tried to sabotage Gov. Don Siegelman's career.

18. Forget That
First of all, he's not in the WH anymore, so there won't be any "frog march" out of it.

Second, he's not going to get in any trouble, and will probably live a quite comfortable life, and in fact he just bought a pricey beach house in Florida.

10 Years from now, we'll still be seeing threads here, about how Karl Rove is going to finally get what's coming to him. Of course, between now and then, he'll have gotten away with another 100 different crimes and lies.

He'll laugh, make a statement to the press, and it will all miraculously wash away.

He was able to convince Patrick Fitzgerald to let him off, and I'm sure he'll be prepared to pay off, or threaten whatever is necessary, to get away with any problems he might face in the future.
