(Eric) Massa still leads Kuhl in money (NY-29)

For second straight quarter, challenger raises more than incumbent.

WASHINGTON -- Democratic challenger Eric Massa of Corning raised more than twice as much campaign money as Republican U.S. Rep. John R. Kuhl Jr. in the first quarter of this year.

Massa, a retired Navy commander who came close to defeating Kuhl in 2006, led the Hammondsport congressman for the second consecutive quarter, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Massa raised nearly $278,000 from January through March while Kuhl raised nearly $111,000.

Heading into the second quarter, Massa had $565,320 on hand, or nearly $200,000 more than Kuhl. The congressman, who represents the 29th Congressional District, reported $365,722 on hand.

With a good turnout in November, Dems have a chance to run the table for all the remaining NY Republican seats.
