Pilgrim’s Pride has a lot of holes to fill on its production lines.

Homeland Security agents took 400 of its employees into custody Wednesday in raids on chicken-processing plants in Batesville, Ark., Chattanooga, Tenn., Live Oak, Fla., Moorefield, W. Va. and Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the individuals detained Wednesday were involved in identity theft and immigration-related crimes in order to gain employment in the country.

Pilgrim’s Pride (nyse: PPC - news - people ) has been outspoken over the years about the need for migrant labor. However, the company said it initiated the federal investigation that resulted in Wednesday's sweep after instances of identity theft were first discovered at its Arkansas plant. It said it had terminated all the employees who were arrested.

4. Pilgrim's Pride knew full damn well they were illegal

and hired them because that's what Pilgrim's Pride does.

And, PP's owner, Bo Pilgrim once passed out $10,000 checks to Senators on the floor (yes, the FLOOR) of the Texas Senate while debate went on over workers compensation reform. That SOB wouldn't have it any other way than to hire illegals. Bo Pilgrim was also a huge Bush contributor both as TX governor and president.

6. A preemptive strike.....

Bo Pilgrim no doubt saw the handwriting on the wall given the rhetoric of the not-so-rabid Republicans who are tired of the immigrant bashing and want to know why the law has never been enforced. This way he can't be charged. Watch them all follow suit. In reality they all bought protection from the Republican Party by writing great big fat checks.

And some of those checks went to the Clintons as well I'm sure to make sure he didn't suddenly remember there was a law.

I hope the US Attorneys find something just the same to charge Bo Pilgrim with. How many years have these employees worked for him that he just now got around to checking to see if their identification was legitimate? Expect more of this "chickenshit" between now and November.
