Sen. Salazar: Reprimand Rush
By Howard Pankratz
The Denver Post
Article Last Updated: 04/26/2008 02:39:10 AM MDT

U.S. Senator Ken Salazar has asked today that the owner of 850 KOA "reprimand" Rush Limbaugh for what Salazar calls Limbaugh's "clear exhortation" for riots during the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Limbaugh said earlier this week that he is not calling for a riot in Denver in August but only "dreams" of it, to the tune of "White Christmas."

"Now, I'm not inspiring or inciting riots. I'm dreaming. I'm dreaming of riots in Denver," he said mimicking the holiday tune.

But Salazar, in a letter sent today to Clear Channel Radio, the owner of KOA, characterized Limbaugh's comments as "incendiary."

"As I read Mr. Limbaugh's comments about riots at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, they appear to me to be a clear exhortation that those riots are exactly what he wants to happen," said Salazar. "For that kind of incendiary comment, I ask Clear Channel to reprimand Mr. Limbaugh."

Kris Olinger, director of AM programming for Clear Channel Denver, said that Limbaugh is syndicated by Premiere Radio Network , the syndication arm of Clear Channel.

"We passed the letter along to Premiere," said Olinger. "They obviously are going to take Senator Salazar's comments and consider them."

2. Well, okay....you can throw "pork" to your state.....that's what you'do'
but you're all very short-sighted beyond that......but I guess 'short-sighted' gets you elected or not (and that's the 'problem')

Voters "take heed"......elections are MUCH MUCH more complicated than you'd care to take "interest" in....but please 'pay attention'....it's much much more 'confuddled' than you'd care to know!

Peace,
M_Y_H

P.S, apologies for being "preachy" AGAIN......I'm just mad that I didn't know some of this stuff earlier......

29. Oh, I get it
It's SO frigging important to make sure baseball players who have used steroids be exposed that they hold hearings, but the butt boil king uses his job to incite violence, specific violence at a chosen place and time, and NOTHING can be done?! Is it okay to now scream fire in a crowded theater? This is the equivalent, and he should have been arrested. Pig.

3. The GOP oversaw the destruction of New Orleans, the Twin Towers & the Pentagon. Denver fits in well.
New Orleans, New York City and Washington, D.C. have all been victims of the Republican Party.

Rush Limbaugh's call for riots in Denver fits the pattern perfectly.

I wonder how those in Denver feel?

6. Reprimand Rush with prison or shut the fuck up.
He clearly crossed the line on that one. Selective enforcement violates every principle of the rule of law.

incitement are subject to loss of license to broadcast

8. Want to stop Mr. Limbaugh?
Boycott Clear Channel, Boycott the dear folks who advertise on Clear Channel, And make a clear point to those who you do business with that you won't tolerate Mr. Limbaugh point of view. I told my barber I wouldn't be back because he supports Faux News and believes "Rush is Right".

9. Dreaming
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 07:19 PM by Mugweed
I'm dreaming of Rush's decline into the forgotten realms. Of course, that would take a better education system, which is not advantageous to the right wing.

(edited because I first talked about dreaming of Rush's decapitated head)

12. dreaming of Rush
You along with Salazar should be dreaming of taking Rush off the PUBLIC AIRWAVES. He should also be fined and never allowed to go near a Public Broadcast EVER AGAIN.

COME ON SALAZAR YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. THE PENALTY SHOULD FIT THE CRIME. HE ADVOCATES TERRORISM. HONOR YOUR OATH POF OFFICE AND DEFEND THIS

COUNTRY AGAINST FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC ENEMIES. OTHERWISE YOUR WORDS ARE MEANINGLESS.

U.S. Senator Ken Salazar

You'be been a naughty, naughty boy Rush. Bad Rush, bad!!! What you said was not a nice thing to say. So you consider yourself reprimanded.

- Whew! Now, I feel sooooo much better. Thank you Senator, I don't know what we'd do without your firm hand on the tiller that guides this nation...

K&R!!!

14. A few facts we all know about Limbaugh:
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 08:03 PM by rasputin1952
He is a coward.

He is a liar.

He lives off the false premise of his ego.

And now, a terrorist. His call for riots, aids and abets terrorism.

Most of the rest of his crap is insignificant, his drug abuse, his draft dodging, etc. But his criminality is incredible, and he has gotten away with it in the past. For instance, if I tried to buy plastic bags of Schedule II meds with a cigar box filled with cash, I would never see daylight again. What did law enforcement look at, "doctor shopping". It mattered little to them that the cigar box/oxycontin situation, which would have put anyone else behind bars for life, was the real crime. The pharmacists involved were charged, but not Limbaugh...wonder how many cigar boxes of cash it took to buy off the prosecution?

I heard the live broadcast, I listened to the tape...he's trying to get out of this, and what he did was call on people, (not himself of course as 'Commander in Chief of Operation Chaos'), to go to Denver and disrupt the Democratic National Convention. He did it plainly, overtly and with that sneer he has. It was a terroristic threat, and should be handled as such, not just by the FCC, but by Federal law enforcement as well. No fine, no reprimand, he should get precisely what I would get if I got on the air and called for riots at the GOP National Convention...he should be tried, and if convicted, (interestingly by his own rhetoric), he should spend time in prison, a lot of time. If people are now being arrested for saying "fuck you" and being charged with conveying a "terroristic threat", Limbaugh should be tossed into the Black Hole of Calcutta.

One last thing...the next time he claims to be a patriot, he should be dragged outside, tarred and feathered, placed in stocks and be moved around the country; his bank accounts should be drained of funds to purchase rotten produce for the masses...let the games begin...:D

15. I had a dream, a very disturbing dream
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 08:48 PM by Jackpine Radical
in which thousands of outraged citizens broke into a radio studio and dragged off a fat little man and played little fraternity pranks on him--pranks like waterboarding him and smearing him with feces and hooking electrical wires to his tiny little genitals and stuff like that before they tied one of his arms and legs to each of four HUMVs going very slowly in four directions and drew and quartered him while he screamed.

I wish I wouldn't have dreams like that.

18. Limbaugh is but a symptom of thr CANCER that is Clear Channel - -public airway's 24/7 propaganda arm

of the GOP.

Continued government enabling of this massive evasion of campaign finance laws is immoral.

Clear Channel will not leash their pit bull Limbaugh.

But their misuse of the public airways, and evasion of campaign finance laws must end.

22. Just wondering
how many complaints the FCC has gotten. Seems like lots of DUers responded after Malloy devoted an entire show to it Thursday night - who knows where it went from there. I know I flipped the story to my address book with the FCC complaint website. Hopefully numbers in the thousands. "Chaos" indeed.

26. I strongly reprimand the democrats for failing to support a NEW UPDATED FAIRNESS DOCTRINE
which would have enabled competing opinions to be expressed over the airwaves. But it was just one more thing they FAILED to accomplish - and indeed may turn out to be the most significant thing they failed to do because when you interfere with the electorate's right to here opposing opinions, you subvert the entire electoral system.

27. My letter to the writer of the article
Sir: Incitement to riot (that is, destroy property and put human life in danger, which is certainly terrorism) is properly considered a crime. It seems to me that the Dept. of Homeland Security should become involved in this issue. Clear Channel is propagating Limbaugh's message, so they are as guilty as he is. It seems to me that if an exposed nipple is enough to bring a network to a screeching halt and come up with hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, incitement to do real violence should certainly elicit a much, much harsher penalty. Why does the rule of law and plain, decent, common sense not apply to those on the rightwing side of the dial?

The Denver Post has a direct interest in making sure that the Democratic Convention goes off without a hitch, as a demonstration of this nation's commitment to the peaceful transfer of power, even while conducting a war. Your subscribers are the very ones who will stand to lose if Limbaugh's followers take up his call. The Denver Post should itself take to the ramparts and denounce such a call to criminal behavior and call for harsh penalties. How a responsible media outlet can justify not doing so defies explanation.

Reprimand, indeed.
