Quito asks Colombia for evidence of FARC's wealth in Ecuador

QUITO, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The Ecuadorian government Monday asked the Colombian government to hand over evidence about the alleged wealth accumulated by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in Ecuador, local media reported.

"Colombia is obliged to give Ecuador the information about that fact, as suggested by (Colombian) President Alvaro Uribe," Miguel Carvajal, Ecuador's Deputy Defense Minister, said during an interview with a local television network.

"Its obligation is to give us that information to carry out investigations and enforce the law, because illicit activities in Ecuador cannot be tolerated," Carvajal said.

Carvajal said that beyond Uribe's unproved accusations, he also could not understand how Colombia has not been able "to control irregular groups nor trafficking of cocaine" despite its big military budget and the support from the United States.

2. It's interesting that, of all the news sources on earth, the China news service

seems to be one of the few routinely reporting OBJECTIVE news stories on South America.

Objective news, in a capitalist context, means news that business interests can rely on, in a competitive market. This is why WSJ news stories USED TO BE fairly reliable--their editorial page to the contrary notwithstanding. Business people need REAL news. However, in a context of MONOPOLISTIC global corporate predation, the news product degrades and becomes rancid propaganda, because its purveyors are brigands, pirates and robber barons. They don't want to compete. They want to, quite literally, kill the opposition (for instance, slaughtering 1.2 MILLION innocent Iraqis to get their oil). They seek to destroy the competition, not to compete with it. They further seek to destroy democratic and/or nationalistic (sovereign) governments and FORCE countries to permit their plunder and rapine. China, for all its communist history and strange hybrid system today--part authoritarian, part wild "free market"--is going around the world quietly making mutually beneficial deals with other countries, without force--without recourse to threats and bullying, without use of (or threat of use of) their military. They have become REAL capitalists, of the old liberal kind--believers in COMPETITION, believers in the mutual benefit of trade.

Such an irony! And now, it appears that they've got a news agency that serves the Chinese business community's need for OBJECTIVE news. They don't do things like Exxon Mobil recently did--trying to freeze $12 billion in Venezuela's assets (punishment for Venezuela's requiring a 60/40 split of the oil profits). They go in and MAKE A DEAL that works for them and for their trade partners. They aren't involved in Venezuelan oil (that I know of), but they have been involved in similar deals around the world, bargaining with countries and foreign businesses for mutual benefit. Iran is a good example. They don't threaten to nuke Iran. They BARGAIN WITH Iran. Thus, they get the benefit of a reliable oil supply, and our thug-corporates don't.

I haven't been following China News coverage of Iran, but I think I can safely predict, on the basis of their coverage of South America, that it's a hell of a lot more objective and useful than the crap we read about Iran from our global predator-controlled news monopolies.

We need to do some more analysis of this. It's just something I've noticed about the China News service. I don't have overwhelming evidence of it yet. But there is certainly evidence pointing this way--that the China News service reports the other side of things in South America (--the non-Bushite/U.S. corporate predator side), the more OBJECTIVE side--the side that more accurately reflects the REALITY in South America, that Colombia is an isolated, corrupt, lawless, Bush-funded pariah, despised by most of South America, which has been overwhelmingly electing democratic, leftist governments (in Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Nicaragua, and, most recently, Paraguay). Chinese business people--whatever their beliefs about government--accept and deal with this reality. U.S. business interests do not--they have used the Bush-U.S. military and other powers to interfere, with coup plots, assassination plots, dirty tricks of every kind, including trying to instigate several wars. We see it every day in their corporate news propaganda--relentless lies and disinformation about South America--and I have so far not seen this in China News. (It might be true of China News about Tibet, however--or other touchy subjects, like Taiwan, or Japan. I don't know this news service that well.)
