Principal outs gay kids, ACLU steps in
Source: PageOneQ

Daphne Beasley, principal of Hollis F. Price Middle College in Memphis, Tennessee, is under fire for outing at least one gay couple in her student body, according to the ACLU-backed couple and their parents.

In September of 2007, Beasley sought out couples of all kinds to monitor them for public displays of affection. She compiled a list of names, which included students Andrew and Nicholas (last names omitted), based on information she received from teachers and students; the list was clearly visible to anyone who visited her office.

1. Unfuckingreal
There is a personality type that seems to take any tiny amount of official administrative authority to granted them as a license to set up their own Dept. of Homeland Gestapo, complete with snitch networks, and Do Not Fly lists, black bag searches, and the whole fucking Gulag.

21. No just a few who want $2.98 handling for a free bible
my apologies to you-- I don't know you.

But I do know the good Rev. John Hagee

Hagee on Hurricane Katrina "All hurricanes are acts of God because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that."

Hagee on Islamic Beliefs
Fresh Air host Terry Gross asked if Hagee believed that "all Muslims have a mandate to kill Christians and Jews," to which Hagee replied, "Well, the Quran teaches that. Yes, it teaches that very clearly."

Hagee on African-Americans
The San Antonio Express-News reported that Hagee was going to "meet with black religious leaders privately at an unspecified future date to discuss comments he made in his newsletter about a 'slave sale,' an East Side minister said Wednesday." The Express-News reported:

"Hagee, pastor of the 16,000-member Cornerstone Church, last week had announced a 'slave sale' to raise funds for high school seniors in his church bulletin, 'The Cluster.'

"The item was introduced with the sentence 'Slavery in America is returning to Cornerstone" and ended with "Make plans to come and go home with a slave."

Hagee on Catholicism
"Most readers will be shocked by the clear record of history linking Adolf Hitler and the Roman Catholic Church in a conspiracy to exterminate the Jews."

Hagee on Women
"Do you know the difference between a woman with PMS and a snarling Doberman pinscher? The answer is lipstick. Do you know the difference between a terrorist and a woman with PMS? You can negotiate with a terrorist."

"he feminist movement today is throwing off authority in rebellion against God's pattern for the family." <"Bible Positions on Political Issues," John Hagee>

Hagee on LGBT Americans
"The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment."

Hagee on Iran
"The coming nuclear showdown with Iran is a certainty," Hagee wrote in the Pentecostal magazine Charisma. "Israel and America must confront Iran's nuclear ability and willingness to destroy Israel with nuclear weapons. For Israel to wait is to risk committing national suicide."

3. Read the entire story. It's heartbreaking.
According to Nicholas' mother Nichole, the principal said that she didn't tolerate homosexuality in the school and repeatedly asked if she knew her son was gay. The honor student underwent further humiliation, in addition to verbal harassment, when taken out of the running for a class trip to New Orleans related to rebuilding efforts, as a risk to the school's image; Nicholas was told that there were fears he'd embarrass the school by engaging in "inappropriate behavior."

....

"We never bothered anyone or did a single thing at school that broke any of the rules," Nicholas, a junior, said. "Every day I feel like they're still punishing me, and I'm worried that this is going to hurt my chances to get into a good college."

11. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger....
I have a hunch these boys will grow up to be beacons for the community and ardent, vocal supporters for equal rights for ALL. Beasley fucked up big time and her scheme to eradicate homosexuality is backfiring.

Still wants to go to college, even though he now feels school punishes him everyday. Hope the ACLU gets him the billion dollar jackpot.

9. School policy on adult-student sex. harassment
This is probably standard policy, but for the record....

From their own city school policy:

"All students have the right to learn in an environment free of discrimination, which includes freedom from adult-to-student sexual harassment. Therefore, the Memphis City Schools will not tolerate adult -to-student sexual harassment in any form...."

http://www.mcsk12.net/admin/Policy-Planning/policies/p5.5001.pdf

On the city school's home page, they don't mention non-discrimination based on sexual orientation:

"Memphis City Schools does not discriminate in its programs or employment on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, handicap/disability, sex, or age."

http://www.mcsk12.net/

I feel the principal should at least be suspended pending investigation. May the ACLU rip whomever a new one.

16. From their website:
The Hollis F. Price Beliefs

* We believe that every member of our learning community has value and worth and has the right to be respected.

* We believe that students have varied learning styles and levels, and should have the opportunity to reach their potential in an environment that supports those variances.

On the other hand I suppose it could be argued she was just preparing the student body for the real world.

25.  I know it's tough for some people to handle but actually NOT ALL homophobia
is explained by blaming it on "the Seekrit Homos". Heterosexuals are also quite capable being virulent homophobes. Some of the most vicious things I've heard said towards gay men have been said by STRAIGHT women-they weren't hating the hidden gay man inside themselves. When a white person utters racist remarks or votes for a racist candidate, that doesn't mean they are secretly black and don't want others to suspect it. Institutionalized homophobia didn't get to be that way-an institutionally enforced pervasive taboo- because of homosexuals hating themselves.

26. Just because she's a hateful homophobe does NOT mean she's gay. I'm so tired of that being the first
assumption made. It's usually never true. Most people who hate gay people are not gay.

condone calling this woman a bitch either.

For those who haven't figured this out yet...the quickest way to get people to not listen to your POV, is to insult another. There is no reason to add to this situation by screaming "bitch", it does nothing more than infuriate almost everyone.

Sorry...meant to attach this to the OP...I'm not singling you out...:hi:

24. OK, enough with the BITCH comments, please
Why is it that people seize on any opportunity to puke out a sexist epithet? Yes, the woman is odious. She's an intolerant fanatical nutcase who should be kept away from children for the rest of her life. None of that gives people license to insult every woman just because someone of their gender is a toxic human being.
