N-deal not dead but Indian politics stumbling block: US
Source: Economic Times (India)

EW DELHI: The US, which acknowledged the lack of political backing for the nuclear agreement on Tuesday, refused to label the deal dead. The Bush administration, expressing its views on the matter, said the deal was too `critically important’ to be labelled dead. With Left parties refusing to let the government take the next step on the nuclear deal, the US acknowledged that crossing other hurdles — the IAEA safeguards agreement and the Nuclear Suppliers Group waiver — were going to be smoother than pushing past the internal political process. ``We are never going to declare it (nuke deal) dead because we think it’s critically important,’’ reports quoting a White House spokesperson said.

The statement coincides with the attempts to revive the deal by a small section within the government before the mid-May meeting of IAEA. The NSG is also scheduled to meet at Johannesburg in May 19. Even though it has not been able to convince Left allies, the UPA government has been trying to reassure the Bush administration about its commitment to the nuclear deal. 2. I guess all you have to do to steer policy around the world is...
to have the most nukes.

How does one of the least trustworthy administrations in US History still have so much say? Every one is still going, "is that ok, Daddy America?"

Pathetic. So few people in this world have courage any longer, and none of them have any power. It amazes me that so many cowards can become leaders.
