"Hostile" Iran Sparks U.S. Attack Plan
Source: CBS News

Pentagon Wary Of Tehran's Expanding Nuclear Program And Support Of Iraqi Insurgents

(CBS) A second American aircraft carrier steamed into the Persian Gulf on Tuesday as the Pentagon ordered military commanders to develop new options for attacking Iran. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports that the planning is being driven by what one officer called the "increasingly hostile role" Iran is playing in Iraq - smuggling weapons into Iraq for use against American troops.

...

U.S. officials are also concerned by Iranian harassment of U.S. ships in the Persian Gulf as well as Iran's still growing nuclear program. New pictures of Iran's uranium enrichment plant show the country's defense minister in the background, as if deliberately mocking a recent finding by U.S. intelligence that Iran had ceased work on a nuclear weapon.

...

"I have reserve capability, in particular our Navy and our Air Force so it would be a mistake to think that we are out of combat capability," Mullen said.

Targets would include everything from the plants where weapons are made to the headquarters of the organization known as the Quds Force which directs operations in Iraq. Later this week Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is expected to confront the Iranians with evidence of their meddling and demand a halt.

If that doesn't produce results, the State Department has begun drafting an ultimatum that would tell the Iranians to knock it off - or else.

1. Man when this Administration wants war, they go for it...
Two wars already, working hard on a third, they are bound and determined to start World War III no matter what it takes.

If only we had an Administration this devoted to our environment, education, health care and ending poverty as this one is with being in a war with the entire Middle East.

12. Who's gonna stop them?!? The CONGRESS?
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 11:29 AM by ShortnFiery
The Kyle-Lieberman Amendment whom "The Goddess of Iranian Obliteration" VOTED FOR has given the ghouls in The BushBotBorg an *All Clear* to BOMB (or perhaps, better yet = mini-nuke :nuke:) another Sovereign M.E. Country.

Who's next after that? Venezuela? :wow: No, it's NOT that far out of reasoning. Even for a neo-liberal known as HRC to partake.

Is it any wonder that The World Community is Collectively "holding their breath" regarding our Presidential Elections?!?

20. Biden said if Bush starts a war with Iran without Congressional approval
he would be impeached.

Maybe someone should follow up with him to see if that's still operative.

to Tehran, Iran when I happened to have been born. Forgive me if I GIVE A DAMN about seeing *my birthplace* (with all those beautiful average Iranian citizens) blown to Kibbles-N-Bits ... and bits ... and BITS!

Yes, although I was born within the small confines of a U.S. Army Clinic (US Citizen Born Abroad) and have since served as an Officer in the US Army, the thought of BOMBING Iran is more than a little disconcerting for me, on a PERSONAL level. :(

10. Because some very rich (un)people have devised new ways to rip us off

Some of them are in the White House and others live in terrorist states like Saudi Arabia or Libya.

26. It's called a 'proportional response'
They send a rocket-propelled grenade to Iraq (or maybe not), and we respond by nuking their country into the Stone Age.

Mission Accomplished!

5. 9 months ago, Gates himself said there was no evidence...
That the Iranian government was involved with aiding the Taliban, but now they are going to trot out Maliki to give "proof" of the association? I call bullshit.

As far as an Iranian official going to visit their enrichment facility, that is not evidence that they are building a nuclear weapon. It does not meet international standards for proof.

The REAL reason behind this new push is the fact that Iranians have finally switched their oil currency to the Euro. This is the same thing that spaerked the Iraq war.

9. Don't let Gates fool ya, he's a full member of the BushBotBorg for M.E. CHAOS.
Because the GOP are evil geniuses who know that WHEN the peasants are kept *SCARED SHITLESS,* they will unthinkingly VOTE for "Grand-daddy McCain, et. al., other or a Neo-Lib (HRC)" to keep us safe. :puke:

Yes, this will help "The Tin Horn Lady" proclaiming the good news of Iranian Obliteration ... at least in the short run.

21. It's all about the oil...
The plan all along was to destablize the region and then invade and occupy first Iran and then Syria and "liberate" the Iranians and the Syrians. The bottom line is the pipeline they want to Haifa and they need the oil and the original Aramco, I believe, pipeline from Iraq to Haifa that Syria shut down after the War of 1948 to ensure that no Arab oil made it to an Israeli port. They want to bypass the Persian Gulf.

Given the recent announcement by King Abdullah that Saudi Arabia will begin restricting exports at some point to ensure a supply of oil for Saudi Arabia itself, no doubt at some point we will discover weapons of mass destruction in Saudi Arabia as well as Iran and Syria and Iraq.

Bush has eight months to begin "phase two" of what is obviously intended to be a "colonization" of the Persian Gulf states to allow access to oil and to allow easy access to a "safe" and "friendly" port in the coming era of oil shortages and depletion of major reserves.

And with the help of Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Congress, no doubt we will see "phase two" by fall if not sooner.

Nancy Pelosi took quite a bit off the table. Including the interests of the American people. At some point we may find that "shock and awe" boomerangs and Russia or China may decide to solve their "supply and demand" problem by just wiping us off the map with a massive nuclear attack. A scenario that a growing number of people are worried about.

Bush has declared himself king of the world. The world may decide to get rid of the king along with his subjects.

18. Yes, the following rationale is why we MUST be "at war" with Iran. Us little people are supposed to
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 11:50 AM by ShortnFiery
just salute and sacrifice OUR CHILDREN as we sell our souls to SATAN by killing thousands upon thousands of Iranian citizens ... who love THEIR CHILDREN as much as we do.

Iran has been reducing its exposure to the dollar as the United States has ratcheted up sanctions because of a dispute over Tehran's nuclear programme. In December, an official said 90 percent of its oil export earnings were outside the dollar.

What do you think that we TELL CONGRESS that their asses are "out of office" if they don't stop the Bombing of Iran BEFORE it happens?

who was reporting from Dubai, and she said she keeps on asking about this Iranian attack to the Senate committees, and they are totally in denial that these thugs will not do it, why are playing russian roulette with so many people's lives, we all know we are dealing with madmen here, why can't they get their minds around this, should we as citizens call these Reps and Senators up and wake them the hell up?
