BAGHDAD (AFP) — An American soldier died when his vehicle
was hit by a roadside blast in the Iraqi capital Baghdad,
the US military here said Saturday.
The soldier was on a "combat patrol" in eastern Baghdad
when he was attacked on Friday evening, the military said
in a statement. It said the victim's name was being
withheld until his family could be informed.
The latest deaths brought the number of US troops killed
in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to 4,066, according
to an AFP count based on independent website
www.icasualties.org.

May 3 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq
at 1325 GMT on Saturday.
-snip-BAGHDAD - U.S. forces and the Iraqi army killed 14 militants
in separate incidents on Friday in eastern Baghdad, the U.S.
military said. Hospital officials in the eastern Baghdad
militia stronghold of Sadr City said 14 bodies had been
brought in overnight, but did not know if they were fighters
or civilians. They said 25 people had been wounded.
BAGHDAD - Two rockets landed near the al-Sadr hospital in
Sadr City, wounding 20 people including women and children,
and incinerating or damaging 11 ambulances, police and
hospital sources said.
BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier died from wounds sustained when a
roadside bomb struck his vehicle during a combat patrol in
eastern Baghdad on Friday, the U.S. military said.
