BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — A gunman in Baghdad shot and wounded a coalition services member at an International Zone checkpoint on Monday morning, and the armed man was subsequently killed by troops.

A military spokeswoman said a “military-age male” walked to the checkpoint and opened fire. Coalition troops and Iraqi security forces shot the man, who later died of his wounds at a hospital.
