Details of airport Tasering stripped from RCMP report
Source: THE CANADIAN PRESS

OTTAWA–The RCMP call it Occurrence No. 2007-34748.

Millions of people around the world know it as the infamous Taser zapping at the Vancouver International Airport last October that sparked so many questions about Robert Dziekanski's death.

The Mounties have stripped any new answers from a heavily censored report on the high-profile stun gun incident, obtained by The Canadian Press and CBC under the Access to Information Act.

Dziekanski died in the early hours of Oct. 14 after the RCMP hit the 40-year-old Polish immigrant with a Taser and pinned him to the airport floor. Police fired the electronic stun gun's metal probes less than 30 seconds after arriving on the scene of a sweaty, agitated Dziekanski, who had earlier tossed a small table and computer monitor in frustration.

We have more important things to do!

RCMP subdue hospitalized man, 82, with Taser

An elderly man in Kamloops, B.C., was zapped three times on the torso by a police stun gun while lying on his hospital bed, CBC News has learned.

Frank Lasser, 82, appeared fragile Thursday when he showed the Taser marks on his body and talked about the ordeal he went through Saturday.

"They should have known I had bypass surgery," Lasser told CBC News.

"I was laying on the bed by then and the corporal came in, or the sergeant, I forget which it was, and said to the guys, 'OK, get him because we got more important work to do on the street tonight,'" Lasser said.

We need control over those in power.

1. "Lasser told CBC News that he sometimes becomes delusional..."
"He said he couldn't explain why he refused to let go of the knife even after the Mounties arrived."

Unfortunately, that makes it difficult to take his account of events at face value.

Nurses in the report said he becomes delirious.

Anyway. An 82 year old recovering from heart surgery. Spider man would have thrown a net over him.

Disarm the guy from his pocket knife. Shit, what is going on?

Corrected wording: delirious and delusional.

3. Why would a "delusional" patient be allowed to have a pocket knife in the first place?
Maybe the hospital should take some of the heat, too, and change their policies accordingly.

(Not necessarily disagreeing with anything you're saying, CHIMO. Just had a :wtf: moment.)

5. Yes
But there are all types of objects that people can obtain.

The police are supposed to be there to protect. And when someone who is 82 and in the hospital, then I would think that more time should be spent in solving the situation. He wasn't threating anyone. Just let him lay there until he needs more air or water or needs to go the washroom. There are many more solutions to this situation than shock therapy.

4. You're right, of course
These filthy pigs with their torture toys can't be bothered taking a pocket knife from a bed-ridden 82-year-old. They'd rather get a stiffy inflicting suffering on people before heading to the donut shop or cruizing for hookers.

Unlike the US media which would either not report this or give it short shrift between Jenna stories, the CBC has been pretty much on top of this. Maybe not to the extent of the RCMP's murdering of Robert Dziekanski, but enough to, as usual, put the US media corpse to shame.

Canadian Press

OTTAWA – Protesters are accusing police of using undercover agents to provoke violent confrontations at the North American leaders' summit in Montebello, Que.

Such accusations have been made before after similar demonstrations but this time the alleged "agents provocateurs" have been caught on camera.

A video, posted on YouTube, shows three young men, their faces masked by bandannas, mingling Monday with protesters in front of a line of police in riot gear. At least one of the masked men is holding a rock in his hand.

9. WTF?
"OK, get him because we got more important work to do on the street tonight"

What, their bridge club? A flower arranging marathon? A really big bag of doughnuts?

"We could not deploy our… pepper spray, because we could potentially contaminate the entire hospital."

:banghead:

What did we as a society do before these new tools became available.

Will we ever go back to using those old methods that worked so that both the victim and the rescuer could survive the encounter.

Fear hurts everyone.

There was a story here a while ago about a first grade boy who was arrested and jailed for touching the waistband of a girl's pants. I thought how very sad our society has become that we can't even sit down with children to explain why something is inappropriate and expect them to change as a result of the knowledge.

Wasn't it *ush who proclaimed we must act to protect our country from what other people MAY BE THINKING. Preventative war - kill them before they can even think of doing anything.

Kill that invalid before he thinks of getting out of that bed or thinks about slicing up that whole apple on his tray - he's a menace - he'll kill everyone - get him quick!:sarcasm:

Edited to add sarcasm smiley.
