Feds file new indictment against Barry Bonds
Edited on Tue May-13-08 07:34 PM by qanda
Source: Mercury News

Federal prosecutors today returned to the field in their perjury case against former San Francisco Giants superstar Barry Bonds, filing a fresh indictment to address a federal judge's concern that the previous charges were legally flawed.

For Bonds, the new indictment contains the same central allegations, but now hits baseball's all-time home run leader with 15 felony charges instead of the five contained in the original indictment returned last November by a federal grand jury in San Francisco. Bonds is expected to be arraigned on the new indictment June 6.

The legal implications for Bonds remain the same under the new indictment - he faces the possibility of federal prison for allegedly lying to a federal grand jury in December 2003 about using steroids. Bonds was among dozens of athletes called to testify in the Balco steroids scandal.

The revised indictment, however, will push the case forward after months in limbo, although Bonds' high-powered defense team is expected to press other challenges to the prosecution's case. Bonds previously pleaded not guilty to the perjury charges.

5. Every 2 years Bush's DOJ prosecutes Black folks. A white player lied to Congress.
Where is the outrage? Does the press jump up and down when Roger Clemens lies to Congress? Hell no!

The Grand Jury in the Bonds case had an illegal leak to reporters so that they could write a book--sounds like a conspiracy that needs to be investigated to me since it helped federal prosecutors build up public support to start an investigation into Bonds for perjury. The feds acted like Ken Starr. They used members of the press like KO to indict Bonds in the court of public opinion. They imprisoned a friend of Bonds for a year. They convinced everyone he was guilty--then waited until a Black man was running for president to indict him, send Wesley Snipes to jail on a tax charge no one is ever sent to jail for, charge a Black football player with felony dogfighting (as if he was the only person who ever engaged in dog fighting) are trying the Sears Catalog Bombers for a third time, as still persecuting Dallas City politicians after 5 years....

The DOJ's War on Black Folks will only end when we get rid of Bush/Cheney.

I am absolutely fed up with it.

10. Race bait, he and the rest are cheats and liars
if they are criminals is yet to be determined. They , all of them, should have their names and records removed from the record books. Anyone who did business with balco. White black, whatever.

As for the dog killing asshole who is rich then black he got himself in that position. By being a dog killing, rich, stupid, asshole. Race is irrelevant..

9. actually to be honest,
I think baseball would be a lot less boring if ALL the players used steroids.
Imagine games with double digit scores regularly.
Imagine a pitcher throwing his entire arm accross home plate.
THAT is exciting sports action.
Aside from all that cool stuff,
Bonds is such an self-entitled asshole of a person I really would like to see him do some time.
