APATHENS, Greece (AP) - Greece's largest labor unions are planning strikes Thursday that will disrupt state services and flights by domestic carrier Olympic Airlines.
Unions are angry at pension reforms, high consumer prices and recent privatization deals.
The GSEE, Greece largest labor union, said 24-hour strikes would be held at the country's main telecoms company, OTE, and at Greece's two main container ports, all slated for privatization. Employees at the state-run electricity company, PPC, and elsewhere in the public sector will hold three-hour work stoppages.
Greece's conservative government has promised to push through economic reforms, including more aggressive privatization and an overhaul of pension funds, after winning re-election last September, and despite having a majority of just one seat in parliament.
As a result, unions have staged a barrage of protests, often coinciding with each other, but sometimes for different reasons.
