Bush and Pakistan's premier agree to fight 'terrorism'
Source: AFP

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt (AFP) — US President George W. Bush and Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday pledged at their first meeting to combat "terrorism", but gave no public indication of a future joint policy.

Washington has been concerned by the change in policy since the Pakistani coalition government was formed six weeks ago and began talks with the Taliban, whom US and NATO troops are fighting in neighbouring Afghanistan.

The Taliban, driven from power by a US invasion in 2001, is also active on the border tribal zone which also operates as a rear base for the conflict in Afghanistan and where the Pakistani army has fought the hardline Islamists.

Bush only indirectly raised US unease saying that he and Gilani held a "very candid discussion" and that he had suggested that Washington and Islamabad could productively cooperate on economic matters.

4. The irony is...
Pakistan IS a terrorist state. All terror links for 9/11 lead to Pakistan and Pervaiz Musharraf.

Instead of Iraq, Pakistan should have been invaded and the swamp cleaned. It would have produced real results. Instead, dubya played skin-flute with Musharraf.

7. Come on.. Bush is not negotiating with terrorists..
He's appeasing them. By throwing monetary concessions at terrorist-supporting and raising nations, Bush is hoping that the problem will go away. Czechoslovakia or billions of dollars, either one is clear and incontrovertible appeasement. So Bush is not content to only play Hitler in the tragedy play that has been the past 8 years, he must also be the starring role of Neville Chamberlain. If this were not so destructive to our country, I'd almost consider it humorous and exciting.. Am I an evil person to pray for simultaneous coronaries for Dickie and his little chimp?

6. Shortly after the meeting...
Yousuf Raza Gilani kicks * in the groin and says he did his duty to fight terrorism.
