McCain rejects pastor's endorsement (Rod Parsley)
Source: Huffington Post

STOCKTON, Calif. — Republican John McCain on Thursday rejected endorsements from two influential but controversial televangelists, saying there is no place for their incendiary criticisms of other faiths.

He later repudiated the support of Rod Parsley, an Ohio preacher who has sharply criticized Islam and called the religion inherently violent.

Then in an interview with The Associated Press, McCain said he rejected Parsley's support, too.

"I believe there is no place for that kind of dialogue in America, and I believe that even though he endorsed me, and I didn't endorse him, the fact is that I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement," McCain told the AP.

2. Parsley
is a hack, I used to live in Columbus and was surrounded by World Harvest Church crap. I grew up in the Episcopal Church and as I grew up the Church changed, we got a new Priest and he broke ALL of the rules ie:

Not married but living with a woman, you did not call him by Father but by his name, only wore his collar during Sunday services, any other time it was usually jeans and a Tshirt. When he left we got a new priest in, a Female priest. I absolutly love her, her first Christmas Eve service she came in dressed in rags carrying a ratty old suitcase and it just got better after that. When my dad almost died she was there even tho my dad and step mom had to stop going to church due to his health, when he had his leg amputated she was there, she married my wife and I.

I guess my point is this, I have always disliked the Mega church and always will. To me it is nothing more than a money making scheme full of hypocrites in the pulpit and suckers in the pews. Give me my old small barely scraping by church anytime.

Sorry for the rant, just in one of those moods today.

3. But...but...
...how WILL McCain ever be able to become a Republican elected president without the fundie wacko vote Parsley can bring in from Ohio?

and

...how ever will Rod Parsley be able to "take back Ohio for God" if he can't count on the political approval of someone big and powerful like John McCain, whom he helped to become the next president of the United States?

You don't suppose...BOTH men will fail at their stated missions????

If so... BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!

5. Man, is McCain backpedaling on his religious right endorsements.
Another example of doing things half-cocked and facing the consequences later. Instead of seeking Parsley's and Hagee's endorsements knee-jerk, his campaign should have done their homework and uncovered the venom that has been spewing from their mouths before pandering for their endorsements.

6. Man, is McCain backpedaling on his religious right endorsements.
First, John Hagee. Less than a day later, Rod Parsley.

This is an example of his campaign's half-cocked approach to doing things. Pander now and damage control later. I can't help thinking this would also be how business would be conducted in the White House under a President McCain.

7. The same media that wouldn't even mention McCain and Hagee...
...or McCain and Parsley in the same article, will suddenly put this on the front page in non-fundie areas. They will then pretend that there was never any link between McCain and Hagee.
Sen. Obama will not receive the same courtesy regarding Rev. Wright.

9. He only does it now....
because he thinks he can get Fla's Jewish vote, split the Dems and take Fla from Obama. It's his only chance there. Look for Fla to be VERY ugly. I think the race card will be played by McSame and his cronies, the same with a religion card. They sure as hell can't run on their record. It will be very nasty indeed. If we can make the McSame stick.....that will be enough. The economy will be so miserable by then, we would have to do something incredibly stupid to lose this one....and I am afraid we will succeed.:evilfrown:

12. And Americans Reject and Denounce
John McCain! To be as old as he is, John McCain is one of the most childish politicians in Washington. Very Limited Focus, hot temper, regular name calling, irrational logic, uneductated in serious matters.

14. Have you noticed that Billy Graham never endorses anyone?!
He's not a perfect man, as Nixon's tapes revealed, but he never endorses a candidate-at least he understands that that would be inappropriate.

My current pastor doesn't endores candidates, either, although the previous one could have gotten us in a lot of trouble with her endorsement from the pulpit of Kucinich.
