Bill Clinton: 'Cover up' hiding Hillary Clinton's chances
Source: CNN

Former President Bill Clinton said that Democrats were more likely to lose in November if Hillary Clinton is not the nominee, and suggested some were trying to "push and pressure and bully" superdelegates to make up their minds prematurely.

Bill Clinton did not explain who he was accusing of "covering up" Sen. Clinton's chances.

"I can't believe it. It is just frantic the way they are trying to push and pressure and bully all these superdelegates to come out," Clinton said at a South Dakota campaign stop Sunday, in remarks first reported by ABC News.

Clinton also suggested some were trying to "cover up" Sen. Clinton's chances of winning in key states that Democrats will have to win in the general election.

" 'Oh, this is so terrible: The people they want her. Oh, this is so terrible: She is winning the general election, and he is not. Oh my goodness, we have to cover this up.' "

2. First
Can anyone imagine they have not also been frantically pushing and pulling SDs to get them to go their way? Really?

Second, this whiney stuff is most unconvincing. In his mind, he must always be the victim. He's really sounding delusional. And frantic.

Find some grace here, Bill. Maybe you haven't thoroughly ruined your reputation. Maybe there's still some graceful and unifying way out.

Can anyone tell me about any other campaign in US History that started out with such promise and completely went into a free fall? It would be interesting to do a comparison.

"folie a deux." A delusion shared by two people, who reinforce each other's delusion. Bill and Hillary both seem to believe that she could win this election... if only it weren't for the blankety-blank voters who keep getting in the way.

So the 1780 delegates and 16 million votes mean nothing? they way very well lose at the convention, but I don't see them as being INSANE , or whatever French thing you said.

57. I hear no MSM outlets saying get out, just why stay.
Edited on Wed May-28-08 11:11 AM by ingin
It's only in the "liberal blogs" that you find people calling for her to quit.

And there would be no calls for Bill and Hillary to "shut up" if they didn't consistently say stupid, verifiable false, and self-destructive shit.

Am I wrong for calling for her to stop, as a citizen with no press creds, because I feel that she is doing damage to both herself and the party?

And to say that the damage to the party is not occurring is willful blindness. I don't hear Obama saying things like "well, black folks support me", or super delegates complaining about being harassed by the Obama campaign.

Let's be honest here. Clinton screwed herself. She signed off on excluding FL and MI, then changed her mind when it suited her; flip-flop. She gave a false account of her trip to Bosnia; lack of honesty. And she repeatedly referenced the RFK assassination to provide a false time line to justify her decision to stay in the race; in the best possible scenario, this gaffe represents a lack of political judgment in strenuous situations.

It was my hope that she would remain a leader in our party. Her actions in the past few week have made that hope fade.

40. I'm not suggesting that. I'm only pointing out what he seems to be saying... I'm for Obama.
I voted for the Big Dog, and I believed in him then, and I don't think he's changed that much... but I do believe he's really losing his ability to clearly get a message across that resonates with his former supporters. And Hillary is making so many gaffes that it's hard for me to say or think anything positive about her anymore.

In fact, they do that just because they want to victimize, and to appear as victims in order to have the right to go alone, and to raise the candidature of hillary. There has been a great push for months saying Hillary should drop out immediately. That it's over.

I still don't see what the rush is?

You realize that Obama and Hillary share most of the same positions on most major issues and that right now Obama is ahead by about 7% (with Edwards delegates.)

I don't see why people have been DEMANDING that Hillary SHUT UP , sit down and leave. She and Bill have both been told to SHUT UP for nearly six months now. That seems undemocratic to me.

And the people here on DU seem more anti-Hillary than they seem anti-Republican.

Hillary is no VILLAIN. She's not INSANE. She's not a cold calculating robot that only craves power. She's not a racist. She's not trying to suppress vote. She's not trying to STEAL the nomination by changing the rule sin the middle of the game (the rules under which the superdelagates are free to choose the nominee if they don't get the required delegates before the convention.) She's not a fear monger because she ran the 3am ads. She DID NOT cry.

Hillary has been SAVAGED by people who I thought would have better sense. Ollberman has gone INSANE. DailyKos too.

I'm not saying you should vote for her, but i really think this site has been disproportionately hard one her.

Whoever the democratic nominee in the general election is (looks like Obama based on perception and pressure put onto the superdelegates (which is part of the game)) will face the same times of things form the Republicans.

And you'll see that as undemocratic at that time.

I'm voting Democratic this year.

"Bushbuttboy"????

Were you even around in the 90's? You sound like one of those young punks that think that politics was invented just now. You obviously know nothing of what happened back when. If Clinton's and Bush's are so close, why did shrub strike down all of Clinton's "rulings" as one of his very first acts? Uh, because they are polar opposites - perhaps? Get a clue, read some about the past before you ignorantly post something stupid again. I bet you think Clinton and Obama are so different politically, even when they've voted the same way 98% of the time. Just a guess.

Bill's antics on this campaign are so ill-advised and utterly stupid that a.) he's making me forget the good he did as president, and b.) he's making me wonder if he really wants Hillary to win.

I remember his lukewarm speech in "support" of Kerry at the 2004 convention, and this is even worse. All accusations like this do is make me laugh and shake my head as I remember that glorious moment when I voted for Obama in the primaries.
