NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. jeweler Tiffany & Co <TIF.N> reported a higher quarterly profit on Friday, boosted by strong sales in international markets, which pushed modest domestic sales to the backseat.

The net profit came to $64.4 million or 50 cents a share, in the quarter that ended Apr. 30, compared to $54.1 million or 39 cents a share in the year-earlier period.

While Tiffany, like more mid-tier rivals such as Zale Corp <ZLC.N> or Finlay Enterprises <FNLY.O>, has also gone through a rough patch due to the weak U.S. economy, the jeweler said earlier in May that the year had gotten off to a "promising start

......As Max Beolistock said..., "If you got it, flaunt it.."

7. Power goes to their head.

Years ago we would get dressed up when going into an upscale department store because we knew the clerks wouldn't wait on us unless we were dressed up. They in low wage jobs even looked down their noses at customers.

I had a rich aunt who would dress in a less than rich way. One the family story goes...she walked into a fur store with my grandmother for a winter coat. She loved to walk long distances in Buffalo winters and figured the fur coat would be very warm. The clerks all ignored her. She picked out her coat, walked up to them and paid cash and walked out of the store. Their mouths hung open.

Moral of the story is...you can't judge a book by its cover. Even Jackie Kennedy wore fake jewelry.

Because of the "dirty" diamonds in Africa many women are rethinking the real ones from Tiffany. They buy semi-precious stones or man made.

5. I look at Tiffany's at Somerset, sometimes
I'll never be able to afford their merchandise, but they do have some absolutely beautiful jewelry.

If I did have money, though, I'd buy my jewelry at Tappers, in Bloomfield Hills. Whenever I see ads in magazines for something I think is pretty or cool, the local store to have it is always Tappers.

6. My daughter works in one of these big name-brand shopping outlets...
...it’s become a real tourist attraction. My daughter says that it’s mostly foreigners who come shopping now; “They come into the store and act as if we’re giving things away”.

Our dollar is worthless.
