2. its actually none of the demconwatch scenarios
because they're using the 69-59 distribution, but they're halving the votes, so they're 34.5 and 29.5

3. But in the end they are......
....stealing 4 (or 2) of Hillary's delegates from her. You can't do that. Does the party count all the votes rightfully or not? A sad day.

4. Obama will have an equally sad day

When McCain rebuts Obama's acceptance speech from Detroit and likely annoints Mitt Romney as his running mate. Democrats have hardly ever won without Michigan's electoral vote.

9. Mitt Romney? The fat cat supply sider who left Michigan for another state?
In a year when the economy is a major issue, the type of trickle-down economic policies that Romney favors do little or nothing for the citizens of a struggling state such as Michigan. On the other hand, the take home message of McCain being Bush III will certainly resonate. Having John Edwards on the Democratic ticket did not hold much sway for North Carolina voters in 2004, nor will Romney's family name do much to help McCain this time around.

10. He suckered in the GOP MI primary vote.

to win decisively. Talk is talk and whose to say Mi Independents are not equally guibile. Polls are polls and a McCain / Romney ticket looks like a winner in Mich. As of now. Voters probably remember Mitt's dad the auto maker and think Mitt to be a miracle worker.

11. That's a bit flawed...
Democrats won with Michigan in 1836, 1844, 1852, 1932, 1936, 1944, 1960, 1964, 1992 and 1996.

Democrats won without Michigan in 1856, 1884, 1912, 1916, 1940, 1948 and 1976.

Democrats won with part of the electoral delegation from Michigan in 1892.

That's a little better than half of the time. In recent history, yes, Michigan has been necessary. But Obama puts a lot of other states into play. Victories in New Mexico, Colorado and Montana- which could be possible- cancel out Michigan.

And who's saying he'll anoint Romney? The last guy McCain would want would be Romney, King of the Flip Flop.

12. Romney loses McCain the evangelicals. Risky choice.
But if the fundies think Obama is Muslim, it may not matter that much.

15. Stop that!
You are using facts. This has nothing to do with facts. If the Clinton campaign says Democrats never win without Michigan, then thatr's the talking point of the day.

I do think he McCain would do well to pick Romney. I hope he picks Huckabee.

6. I don't agree

Considering the demographic makeup of Michigan I would assume it would be something like Pennsylvania after an election, about a 55/45 split.

Even if Hillary had gained an extra 2-4 delegates, she would still be 200 behind in the delegate race. So it really doesn't matter.

7. She Broke the Rules That She Agreed Upon!
What is with you people? Clinton, Wolfson, Ickes are all ON TAPE saying that the votes in Michigan and Florida would not count! What am I missing here? To listen to the chief hypocrite himself, Ickes, swear and sound so wounded today about made me puke.
Clinton agreed to the rules that she now won't follow. Hypocrite. That you Hill backers can scream and cry now makes me sick.

8. It is indeed disgusting
A more petulant bunch of whiny brats I have never seen in this party. They remind me of right-wingers anymore. They'll bulldoze anyone and everyone for to get what they want, in defiance of all logic, all sense of fair play, and of the rules they agreed to.

13. Actually they politely gave her 1/2 of the delegates that she AGREED would not be counted.
They were extremely kind and honorable to do this. And the state Dem parties of Florida and Michigan should be ashamed of what they did! They created this situaiton, for no good reason at all.

after violating the pledge she signed and keeping her name on the MI ballot, she and her supporters should be thankful they are getting what was decided on.

16. She should be grateful to get any
Edited on Sat May-31-08 10:30 PM by cstanleytech
and no I am not a hardline obama supporter or anything its just that in my opinion the states democrats had been warned well in advance that they would not be counted at all if they moved their elections so they should be happy to be in the process at all.
As for Hillary I am sure she is not happy but she should not have gotten any from those states at all so she had best just shut up about it, that aside even if does lose to obama she should be damn proud as she has done alot as far as advancing women in politics as she almost won the chance to be the candidate for the democrats.
