Berlusconi's trial continues in Milan despite request to have judge removed
Source: International herald Tribune - Europe

ROME: A defense lawyer says the corruption trial of Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi will continue while a higher court rules on the defense's request to have the presiding judge removed.

Lawyer Piersilvio Cipollotti says judges in Milan ruled Friday that the trial would go on pending an appeals court decision on Berlusconi's request. The lawyer says the judge is biased against Berlusconi.

News reports say the appeals court is expected to rule on July 10 while the next hearing in the trial is scheduled for July 7.

Berlusconi is accused of ordering payment in 1997 of at least US$600,000 to his co-defendant, British lawyer David Mills, in exchange for false testimony at two Berlusconi trials in the 1990s. The defendants deny the charges.

3. Me too!
Especially as if he is disgraced, it *might* help to reverse the worrying current drift toward the far-RW in Italy.

Also, just because he is an evil bastard.

2. I hope that fascist jerk, and Bush ass-kisser, and warmonger, gets his comeuppance.
Wouldn't it be great if there is justice in Italy, even if we can't have it here?
