Obama-ticket demand overwhelms phone lines

Twenty-four hours after the Barack Obama campaign announced details on how to obtain tickets to his acceptance speech for the Democratic presidential nomination at Invesco Field at Mile High, the volume of calls in Colorado has all but jammed up the phone lines.

Campaign officials say the hotline at 888-468-7404 has been tested and is working.

"We're encouraging people to be persistent," said Matt Chandler, a campaign spokesman.

Chandler said the phone lines, which operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., are staffed with volunteers who are dealing with a deluge of calls.
