Never before perhaps has such a tiny gesture assumed such electoral importance as Sarah Palin's wink.

Because while, as the cliche has it, the eyes are the window of the soul, Palin's use of her eyes was a window to the views of women in one of the most hotly contested places in this election.

Palin's eyelash batting got under way from the opening moments of Thursday's contest against Joe Biden - and so did the parsing of its significance at a debate-watching party in Florida.

"She is trying to act like a southern belle. She is not acting like someone who could be president of the United States and John McCain is one heart attack away," said Priscilla Glascock, a 26-year-old nurse who is supporting Barack Obama. "The men are going to love it," she sneered.

But for the host Kit Pepper, 52, a member of the non-partisan League of Women Voters, Palin's winking was an affront to the years she spent trying to build up her own political consultancy firm in a male-dominated world.

10. Palins eyes tell us that she is a Pathological Lier. and Dangerous If you notice

If you notice her eyes
they do not move when she talks. This is a tell tale sign of a Pathological lier. Most people will show with their eyes which part of their brain they are accessing information from. You can look it up in any psychology book.

Very briefly if some one is right handed these are the eye movements one might expect (This is not cast in stone but just an example)

Eyes move up and to the right ---- Construction ---or lieing this is when people make some thing up.

Eyes move up and to the left ----Remembering this is an actual event. If the eyes move to the up left and then up right the person remembers what happened and then decides to construct something new (lie)

Eyes move down and to the left--- remembering something they have read. You see actors doing it all the time as they remember the lines they have to deliver.

Eyes move down and to the right---this is accessing emotion.

If eyes move from side to side---person is trying to remember what they heared, if they go from side to side and then up right person is trying to remember what was said and can't remember exactly so creates what seems to make sense out of whatever he /she can remember (may not be accurate)

However a pathological lier has his /her eyes fixed forward and they do not move as they access information. This is handy, so you can look someone directly in the eyes and lie and they have no way to see you create the lie.
Unless you are trained like me to see these things. Some poker players have fixed eyes --but who says they are honest people.

So therefore we must expect her to be particularly DANGEROUS and not believe a single word she says.

This makes her perfect to become the first Neocon President. Since just like Richard III she will not like waiting for the king to die!

but she was trained as a broadcast journalist, and they are taught to stare into the camera, so that may have a lot to do with it. Not that I doubt for a split second that she is a pathological liar. How can anyone? It's been proven over and over and over again.

31. To cover eye movement the people on TV move their heads

You can watch them moving their heads left and right up and down. This is the same as moving the eyes but does not appear so on TV.
Since a great deal of what the TV people do is listen for instructions from the control room (listening) how would it look if their eyes were shifting from left to right all the time--they would look shifty--So to prevent that they move their head to the right and left making their eyes appear to stay still.

It was the way she was constantly flirting with Senator Biden and the camera.

Beauty contestants and 30s Hollywood actresses (remember Marilyn Monroe throwing a kiss to the camera?) tend to do that. It is offensive coming from a Vice Presidential candidate.

It says she is too stupid to sell her intellect, ideas and policies. It is as if she only has her sex appeal to sell.

Does Sister Sarah even know where that came from? It's from the violence of the Sixties. It was originally "Burn, Baby, Burn," and referred to neighborhoods burning during riots.

But I saw her retort of "drill baby drill" to supposedly school Biden in what was supposed to be the "correct" terminology, was more a teasing dig at him that suggested that he wasn't "with it" (in terms of using the latest colloquialisms), being that he's 20+ years older than her. Of course, I'm sure her kids must do the same to her constantly because that term itself is quite dated, and she doesn't realize another generation thinks she is old and out of date. :rofl:

That phrase has been around and used in different circles in different ways much the way the "n" word is used in different ways by blacks and racist whites.

Which now reminds me of the "terrorist fist jab" reference, which may have been an attempt to remind the racist base of the black Olympic athletes of the civil rights era who raised their fists to the sky in a "black power" gesture while getting their medals. I may be stretching quite a bit here!

The winks and folksiness of "Goin'" and "betcha", etc, and "giving a shout out" comes across as phony, calculated ways to cover up her ignorance. Everything was done for a reason. She asked Biden beforehand if she could call him "Joe" only so that she could later use her scripted line of "Say it ain't so, Joe". She really didn't fool anyone other than self-delusional Republicans.

43. ok, my two cents worth...

First, her eyes are 'dead' .... there is no life there. Look at her and I mean really look (ok a 10gr valium helps first), but her eyes are totally devoid of any depth or feeling (look at a pic of Paul Newman or Jimmy Carter or Elizabeth Edwards - totally different)

Second, her bangs hanging in her eyes are sickening. She looks like a 12 year old who does't know to move the hair out of her eyes muchless keep it combed. The hairstyle she has is outdated...or maybe the caribou like that look in AK...I don't know.

Third, the posters are correct about the tight skirt and heels. Sex sells to the repukes. All we have to do is look at the last 8 years to see that with all their scandals (think Newt Gingrich for starters). Personally my hubby found her sickening. He says she started out ok, but all that yeah yeah stuff, winking and folksy talk totally turned him off.

She looks like a ho, dresses like a ho, has a kid who is a ho (by all the townspeoples' own talk of her wildness - not something I made up), so I guess if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, must be a duck (with apologies to ducks everywhere).

She has a lot of skeletons in her closet for sure (and a lot more tight skirts I would bet) and one can only hope some enterprising nosy reporter finds out who the real Palin is....or as my daughter so rightly stated, "Palin is failin."
