Bin Laden's son deported to Qatar
Source: BBC

One of Osama Bin Laden's sons is in Qatar after being deported from Egypt and Spain following failed asylum bids.

Omar Bin Laden, 27, has said he does not share his father's views and has not seen him since 2000.

His British wife, Zaina Alsabah Bin Laden (formerly Jane Felix-Browne) said their condemnation of al-Qaeda had put their lives in danger in the Mid-East.

Their legal status in Qatar was not known. They have also been unsuccessful in securing British visas.

Interesting that Egypt wouldn't allow him to stay in their country, either.

11. Seems to be everyone's clever comeback...
have 'em live in Texas. That's where * is from.

It just gets tiresome.

Why can't Texas send Bush to Qatar? That is my question.

14. Ahh... I empathize.... and yes... I'd prefer the lot of them to be
sent away, most to the Hague, others just "away", never to be heard from again.

15. Spain had a very good reason to deny asylum....
Spain has already been the target of one terrorist attack by al Queda operatives. We forget that al Queda is still a threat to everyone. Spain had a very good reason to deny asylum. It would possibly invite another terrorist attack by al Queda.

The son has spoken out against the father. In most Muslim countries, he might as well have spoken out against the Prophet. The bin Laden family has been careful in what they have publicly said. For good reason. They not only have to fear Osama they have to fear many of the fundamentalists who support Osama. Particularly in Saudi Arabia.

Many are blinded by our supposed "good relations" with Saudi Arabia - the reality of Saudi Arabia is that it is among the most brutal of the fundamentalist Muslim countries. Little has changed since a Saudi princess was beheaded for committing adultery. The royal family might have attempted to stop it. And probably would have ended up being beheaded as well. The Wahabbi clerics have also been careful in what they have publicly said. But in reality, they support al Queda. And use that support to keep the Saud family in line.

Quite a few believe the checks that Princess Haifa sent to the "poor Saudi family" in California that in turn gave the money to the hijackers were written at the "request" of the Wahabbi clerics and that some of those clerics were involved with the planning of 9/11 along with Osama bin Laden. We will never know. About the time the subpoena was being prepared in the Riggs Bank investigation, Prince Bandar and Princess Haifa left Washington on "urgent family business" which of course was simply a cover for their having fled Washington before the subpoena could be served on her. And of course no one is going to ask her to return to Washington to voluntarily appear before a grand jury.

Making fun of Osama bin Laden's son is really not funny by the way. He was very courageous in speaking out as he did. He not only spoke out about his father but also many others who support his father and made many enemies in doing so. Many of whom will seek to kill him if he remains in a Muslim country. Which is why he fled to Spain and asked for asylum. Returning him to a Muslim country has basically ensured that they will kill him. Before he speaks out about another family intertwined with his own. The Bush family.

12. Maybe because these countries don't want to pay for the sins
of his father, either.....

Imagine the costs of securing, monitoring, and otherwise protecting him.

Osama's son? A radioactive magnet for extremism....
