White House nixes tree ornament for impeachment

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House won't display a Christmas tree ornament that calls for President Bush's impeachment.

The ornament was made by Seattle artist Deborah Lawrence, who says she wanted to honor Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., a longtime Bush foe who backs impeachment.

The nine-inch ball, submitted to the White House this fall, is covered with swirly red and white stripes and features a picture of McDermott. Tiny glued-on text salutes the impeachment resolution.

Lawrence, a collage artist, frequently combines politics and satire in her work. She told The Washington Post she saw the ornament as a perfect way "to highlight Jim McDermott because he's a hero of mine."

7. I disagree with that Sally who spoke for the WH. It IS in the spirit of the season.

Jesus, whose birthday we celebrate, would never have approved of the boy king, who did his dirty crimes while claiming to be a Christian. Jesus would be in front of the line of people who would want this wolf-in-sheep's-clothing out of the White House.

Expediency dictated otherwise but I think they would have found a public that was whole heatedly behind them. CaliguDick are both unpopular for very very good reasons and they were pretty damn unpopular for a long time now. No justice for us and more importantly none for the Iraqis.
