McCain scolds GOP for whacking Obama
Source: Politico

In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.

On ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked: “The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike Duncan, has been highly critical of the way President- elect Obama has dealt with this.

"He's had a statement every single day, saying that the Obama team should reveal all contacts they've had with Governor Blagojevich. He says that Obama's promise of transparency to the American people is now being tested. Do you agree with that?”

McCain replied: “I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody — right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. And so, I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.”

1. Was his reconstructive surgery successful?
I knew he had his lips surgically attached to the RW's ass in 2002 or so. Maybe now that it serves no purpose, he'll get them removed again.

2. It will be an interesting next four years.
Will the Republicans continue failed strategies and opt to obstruct? Will moderate Republicans go along with this? Will Democrats put Republican feet to fire so their electorates can hold them accountable?

Stay tuned to this same bat station while WE, THE PEOPLE suffer the consequences.

5. Nice To See The Old McCain Again
you know, I think this is the real one. I think for the past 8 years he became so obsessed with getting elected, he sold his soul. Now he's trying to reclaim it.

11. I don't think there is a real McCain and by that I mean that
I think he will say anything and do anything if he thinks it will gain him power and right now that thing is sucking up to the moderate voters again as he ramps up for his reelection where as he was sucking up to the far right when he was trying get the presidency.

21. We saw the real McCain in 2000
He had to morph into W to get the nomination. Since he's not running again, he can be himself again.

Good to have him come back to himself.

8. I seem to recall...
and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm mistaken, but Wendell Wilkie became a staunch Roosevelt supporter after his defeat as well. Perhaps we are seeing foreshadowings of this here as well.

but split & became a Republican when the TVA forced his private power company out of business.

10. it must be embarrassing to the RNC
to be rebuked publicly and called out for their childish obstructionism. esp by a man whom they just supported in his run for POTUS.

OF course, the RNC has no soul and no conscience so they won't be embarrassed. Being full of sociopathic children, they are unfamiliar with the shame that keeps civilized people in line.

I'm so damn sick of reading about these cry babies whining and blaming and whining and blaming and being shrill and childish.

Really, who elects these asshats?

12. I Agree
The statement McCain made concerning the RNC and the medias focus on the ridiculous is more like the 2000 McCain. I, too, think he sold his soul to the right wing to get elected. He gambled that the general population of American people would never wake up to what is going on and he lost.
It could just be possible that his choice of the right wing uninformed Palin did him in more than they want to admit. All of the sins of the right wing became obvious every time she opened her mouth on the campaign trail. He thought that Bush beat him with insults and crap, which he did, and he decided that was the way to get elected. The American people seem to take a long time to wake up to what is going on (Nixon is one case, Iran/Contra another) but when they do finally begin to focus they usually right the boat.
McCain made a false turn on the way to the Whitehouse. Now that his dream of being President is gone maybe he can become the man he probably set out to be in the first place.
The Democrats need him when and if he decides to work for America.

17. If most republicans think they are going to have any real power after Jan, well . . .
Moderate Republicans, about 5-6, are not about to support obstructionist policies. There won't be filibusters. There won't be hold ups on Holder. NOT gonna happen. They know if they do it's 65 Senate seats for the Dems in 2010.

22. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that
McCain is secretly glad that he lost? He's seemed more relaxed, comfortable and happier these past few weeks, like a weight's been taken off of him. Maybe he really didn't want to win? Or maybe he really didn't like the way he was forced to be something he wasn't in a lot of ways by the RW radicals in his campaign and in control of the party? I know he wasn't crazy about Palin, no matter what he's said to the contrary.

23. I always thought he had sold his soul to the RW of the party,
and was never comfortable with that. I don't think he believed he could have governed the way they wanted, but they would've made his life hell when he didn't. So, yeah, he may be relieved to have lost.

27. I agree with you.
He looked very uncomfortable, even outright distressed, during the campaign. Methinks that he did want to lose and a big chunck of the reason may have been that he had Palin shoved down his throat when he wanted Pawlenty or Romney, and then was shocked and disgusted by the behavior of the Plain supporters. IMO McCain knew that the chance of the GOP winning in '08 were slim and so he was trying to use his presidential bid to pull a Paleo-Conservative coup against the Religious Right, but that was ruined when he got stuck with Palin.

I am so glad we defeated him in the election. A McCain Administration would have run this country into ruin.

28. Ah, so that's where all of the "where's the transparency" stuff is coming from in the MSM
The GOP chairman... Yeah, a response to the GOP whining about transparency is something that Obama should get right on. :eyes:
