Accelerant poured around Palin's church
Source: Anchorage Daily News

WASILLA - Whoever torched Gov. Sarah Palin's home church tried to start fires in several places around the building, the federal agency assisting in the investigation said today.

Accelerants were found in multiple locations on the outside of Wasilla Bible Church, including around entrances and exits, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Nick Starcevic, an ATF spokesman in Seattle, said it was not yet clear what type of accelerant was used. Samples have been taken to the state crime lab in Anchorage for testing.

Investigators typically take scrapings from where they think the fire was lit, said Assistant State Fire Marshal Kelly Nicolello. In this case, that could include parts of the outside of the building and the soil underneath.

The Friday-night blaze caused an estimated $1 million in damage to the 2-1/2-year-old building and displaced one of the largest congregations in the Valley. Five church members were inside when the blaze started, but they were able to get out safely after the fire alarm sounded.

Sad when any church is burned IMHO, even if we don't agree with them. I'm glad there were no injuries or deaths. I really hope that they catch whomever set the fire and that it has no relation to Palin and her politics.

16. It's arson either way
Regardless of who started the fire, whether it was the preacher, Sarah or Todd Palin, Bristol, or whoever.

17. With people inside?
Do people really try to merge insurance scams with homicide?

I'm assuming that any deacon or pastor or whatever the official names for the offices in the church are would be aware that the building could be used, and try not to kill off parishioners for insurance money. (Now, perhaps they were going just for homicide. I can imagine a pastor trying to off a laic or two.)

2. This was a crime and those who did it should be punished. I don't
like her one bit but this is not the way for anyone to express their feelings about her backwards religion or her personally.

5. I doubt it was any left leaning group. It was more likely one of their rightwing nutcase
competitors.

7. Yep - and if its insurance scam
Which might appear advantageous, given the outright contempt many have for Wasilla's Sweetheart...think about it.

14. I saw this on Greta last night (Fox) the fire chief said that it started inside the walls
after and before Greta (and the ALERT scroll) made sure that everyone knew that accelerant was found outside of the church

15. 28 years of Bushie-Nazi Craziness and Lies forces me to ask: Bushie Sympathy PsyOp?
It's horrifying to think such thing, things that should be the realm of laughable-near-impossibility in a Free Nation...the exception and NOT the rule.

I can no longer embrace such naievete about the antion in which I live, not after it was frog-marched the the end of a cliff, blindfolded, by the Bushie-Nazis.

No, I could easily the Bushies imitating their Nazi Forebears by staging such a production (think Horst Wessel; think the German-staged "Polish" attack on themseles on Aug 30th, 1939; think Reichstag Fire and 9-11).

Sad, but the other option is to remain naive in the face of ruthless authoritarian monsters and their unthinking, unquestioning henchmen.

19. Now, here's a disgusting thought for you...
IIRC the fire started inside the walls, which points to a wiring problem.

I think it's possible that someone went over there after the fire was out and poured gas on the ground. This would do two things for them--enable them to claim they were being persecuted, and divert attention away from bad wiring as the cause of the fire.
