Hoosiers file (new) suit challenging Obama's birth status
Source: Indianapolis Star

As officials in Washington prepare for the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama, two Indiana men have filed a lawsuit asking a judge to throw out the election results.

The suit, filed in Marion Superior Court, Room 10, is among five loosely coordinated challenges that question Obama's status as a "natural born citizen."

Gov. Mitch Daniels and the Republican and Democratic national committees are named as defendants in the Indiana suit, filed by Steve Ankeny, New Castle, and Bill Kruse, Roselawn.

... The Marion County suit contends neither Obama, a Democrat, nor Republican Sen. John McCain proved he was a "natural born citizen," a constitutional requirement to qualify for the presidency. They also claim neither candidate was eligible to be elected president because both were sitting U.S. senators at the time of the election.

lawsuit is filed, and then thrown out...the plaintiffs have to repay all court costs? This is our tax money going down the toilet with this crap.

7. There already is such a law. Federal Rule 11.
Various states have a similar provision.

Rightists are over the top right now. They think they're retaliating against "us" for all of the things we raised about Bush. They think they're going to find another blue dress. Or maybe they aren't thinking at all. Who the hell knows?

I just hope Obama is as talented and smart as I think he is. If so, he'll get through this.

The threw a lot of crap at Bill and he got through it, mostly. Unfortunately he couldn't control himself with Monica Lewinsky and he reinforced the throw as much shit against the wall as possible strategy for the lunatics on the right. So, here we are. And perhaps you can see some wisdom in refraining from impeaching Bush? That's just not a good precedent, among so many bad precedents Bush has set and that Obama has to try to undo.

But, FWIW, I do despise these rightists too.

9. It would seem that Federal Rule 11 is not enforced.
For these Indiana guys to file a suit after this all has been settled by the SCOTUS seems like nothing more than a trivial and
obviously nonsensical waste of the judges' time and money of the taxpayers.

13. So true.. In the primaries all the Get along talk , with GOP talk seemed silly
Edited on Fri Dec-26-08 04:10 AM by cyclezealot
They are the rule or ruin party... Obama saying get along with these Neanderthals naive.. Look to the state legislatures, the GOP will shut down a state due to their anti tax pledges with Grover Norquist... I had feared Obama naive, thinking the GOP interested in governance. Of course there are a couple sane Republicans, but they are a rare , dying breed... Over all, we hope Obama knows politics is a blood sport and his defense need be as ready as his offense...

8. Good. This is a comparatively harmless form of ideological masturbation...
...and it keeps them busy. Yes, it costs the taxpayers a little in court time, etc., but compared to some of the things they COULD be doing, it's quite benign.

It's sort of like chasing flying saucers, or promoting elaborate theories about how the geometry of the pyramids is the key to Everything. It's not doing Obama any harm, and every time a court slaps them down and the press, TV, radio, etc., snigger publicly about their moronity, it loses them a little more potential credibility.

Next thing you know they'll be publishing Photoshopped pictures of him appointing Batboy to some senior Administration post, and claiming he's really a plant from the aliens on Planet Zarquon.

Run along and play, boys. We've got an economy to rebuild, a foreign policy to formulate, and a few other jobs to sort out.

dismissively,
Bright

17. The issue is "natural born citizen" under
Article II of the Constitution of the United States, not "American citizen" as defined by Congress. The two issues are not the same, although there is overlap. However, Obama has proven that he is a natural born citizen within the meaning of Article II.

30. News Item (January 21, 2017): right wing lawsuit challenges Obama's birth status
From the Jack Rabbit News Service
Dated January 21, 2017

Right Wing Lawsuit Challenges Obama's Birth Status
By Jack Rabbit

A consortium of right wing groups and private individuals has filed suit in federal court to block the government from paying former President Barack Obama a pension for his eight years as president or providing secret service protection to the Obama family on the grounds that Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States and therefore occupied the office illegally.

Obama left office yesterday after serving two full terms as president. This is the 69th lawsuit filed challenging Obama's right to serve since he first won the presidency in November 2008.

The lawsuit, reflecting the ad hoc nature of the consortium, cites a shitload of reasons why Obama should not be considered a natural born citizen. The Ku Klux Klan, for example, cited the Supreme Court decision Scott v. Sanford, in which the late Chief Justice Roger Tawney ruled that Afro-Americans were not citizens.

Meanwhile, spokesmen for former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell and former Congresswoman and Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris announced the two were filing a similar suit challenging the results of the elections of 2008 and 2012 on the grounds that too many votes were counted in both elections and that these votes supplied the margin of victory for Obama in each case. While the two are not disputing that Obama was born in Honolulu on August 4, 1961, both contend that Afro-Americans have no right to vote. When it was pointed out to Blackwell that he, too, is Afro-American, he responded that he was pardoned by then-President George W. Bush in January 2009.

Asshole thinks he can single-handedly bring down Obama. He hasn't the foresight to realize that BIDEN would be his worst nightmare if he became president. Biden would shut down Fox News (at least have the balls to try) if they crossed the line one too many times.
