Blagojevich says he has done nothing wrong
Source: AP

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In a last-ditch effort to save his job, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich told senators at his impeachment trial that he's done nothing wrong and the evidence doesn't support kicking him out of office.

The Democratic governor repeated his frequent complaint that he wasn't allowed to call witnesses who would have defended him against the criminal charges at the heart of the impeachment case.

Blagojevich did acknowledge that the truth of his actions might not be flattering in some cases. He referred to taped conversations played earlier in the Senate trial. The tapes appeared to show Blagojevich linking legislation to campaign contributions.

He said that's something "all of us in politics do."

4. Most Americans are just angling for *their* "golden scam".

Blago just gives the politicians who haven't been caught doing it an opportunity to act like they're above the game. Temporarily - until the reality that they are just as much a part of the game as he is returns.

Capone reportedly ran soup kitchens for the needy. Blago seems to think that committing a few tactical "goods" is a defense for crassly committing a lot of "bads".

To me it all just looks like an disgusting ego circus of star-bellied sneetches in a feeding frenzy.

3. Yeah, man, like we were all smokin' weed - so why'd you bust me?
This guy is just too much. I'm a crook, but hey, so is everyone else, so there's nothing wrong with it, right? Good freakin' asparagus oatmeal grief.

8. If he did nothing wrong and is so upset about it...
Why did he pass on the chance to go under oath and faced the legislature questions?

Instead he skips out on responding to specific questions and goes on T.V.

He's toast and deserves to be.

9. Blago is the second-guiltiest man in Illinois.
The first being Drew Peterson, of course.

10. Depends on what the meaning of "wrong" is
Edited on Thu Jan-29-09 07:39 PM by rocktivity
I find it interesting that he's consistently chosen that word. How about, "I did nothing ILLEGAL" or "I am INNOCENT" or "The charges are FALSE"? Not even an "I did nothing UNETHICAL?" or an "I WILL be EXONERATED?" At least he doesn't curse around women.
