Women Have Nightmares, Men Dream of Sex
Source: Live Science, via Yahoo News

Women have more nightmares than men, a British researcher says, but men are more likely to dream about sex.
...
Women's nightmares can be broadly divided into three categories: fearful dreams (being chased or life threatened), losing a loved one or confused dreams, Parker said.
...
Men's dreams contained more references to sexual activity, Parker said, and men reported more actual intercourse, while women reported more kissing and sexual fantasies about other dream characters.

I've been with my wife 24 years and while I don't particularly dream about sex, she definitely has more nightmares. This has been speculated for a long time so it is interesting to see a study that validates the perception.

56. Totally disagree.
I don't see it as a waste of money. Rather, it is an insight into issues and concerns of the "sexual divide." Also, it was part of a dissertation, and I saw nothing that indicated money was used. It is possibly no money was used at all, if this were the case, does that change your opinion? I feel things like this expose an on-going, and IMHO, disturbing division between the sexes.

I read the article, but obviously missed the outrageous sum of money frittered away on this study. I need to focus my outrage a little more intensely, so could one of my fine fellows here please provide the sum total of frittered-away grant money to me?

Also, I am damn mad about the money wasted on the study of tulips in Holland!!

12. I can laugh at nightmares when I wake up
which is probably why I have so few. In fact, sometimes I've laughed during the nightmare, just at the sheer absurdity of the situation.

The dreams I can't stand are what I call the "counting dreams," when I'm under pressure to count something and keep being distracted and having to start at the beginning, or of being stuck on an endless phone tree, having to enter too many numbers on a tiny keypad with arthritic fingers and having to start over again and again. These dreams are exhausting and I wake up in worse shape than I was in when I went to bed. While I have often been lucid enough to exit a nightmare through laughter, I have never been able to exit one of those damned, endless counting things.

29. In real life, however...
On the eighth day God was looking down over his creation when he spotted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He says to them, "I've got a couple of leftovers which I might as well hand out to you. I can't decide who should have what, so the person who shouts loudest gets the first choice. The first item is the ability to pee standing up."
Adam immediately jumps up and down shouting, "Me me me! I want that!"
So God gives it to him.
"Damn," thinks Eve, "that sounds really good. I should've shouted louder."
"Well Eve," says God, "I guess you get the multiple orgasms."

39. I have had the same dream many times.
Completely *forgetting* to every attend a particular class.
I have also had recurring dreams about loose/broken teeth.
I almost never dream about sex, and if I do they end way too early.
Most nights, I don't have any dream that I recall. Otherwise they are mostly confused dreams, and that's fine with me.

48. Wow. I have the same dreams...
Forgot a class and never went.
Teeth loose and falling out (although I don't think they've ever actually fallen out in a dream).
Very rarely sexual.

I also have dreams where I need to move quickly either to get to somewhere/thing or to get away from somewhere/thing. But I can't move quickly. Like trying to run through waist deep molasses...

And most nights, no dreams at all (that I remember anyway)...

Weird...

If you are dreaming about having sex with Ann Coulter, you are probably dreaming about her giving you a blow job, and that means she isn't talking during that time! I would think of that as pleasant dreams about how you are helping to save America's airwaves from her venomous pollution and such.

Nursemares.

1) they wake up to a beeping pump.

3) wake up reliving the latest traumatic event that happened to them.

I am sure there are more but those I remember.

58. "Life threatened" dream just last night
I'm a male, BTW.

Usually I don't, or barely, remember dreams. This one was so scary it woke me up. I was surrounded, trapped and absolutely convinced I was going to die.

I often have fun trying to figure out the source of my dreams, and this one was easy. Late last night I watched the 2007 movie An American Crime.

It's based on a true and absolutely horrifying story--the 1965 torture/murder of 16-year-old Sylvia Likens.

I can watch all manner of traditional horror/gore movies and not think twice about them. This one was more affecting, maybe, because it was true. In fact, today I looked up some web sites about the case. If anything, the movie minimized the actual horror of what took place.
