Pelosi To House GOP: Be Thankful For What You Have

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a message for House Republicans who think they weren't given enough time to debate or amend the stimulus package that moved through Congress over an eight-day period earlier this session: You could have had much less.

"To tell you the truth, I could have fast-tracked this much faster," Pelosi, a California Democrat, told a group of reporters and progressive writers at a breakfast gathering Tuesday.

Pelosi had been asked about an anonymous White House aide's suggestion that the administration didn't approve of the speed with which the Speaker handled the package.

"Let me get this straight," she said. "You're the president of the United States; you have a recovery package that you want done by the president's break; we get that done -- and we 'fast tracked it over the president's objections'? It couldn't be farther from the truth."

4. Speaking of t asty sauces. I found one at Trader Joe's
It's kinda sweet and sour but it has chilies which gives it a little bite. It's great on shrimp and crackers with cream cheese, and would probably go good with those republican livers too.

9. But all the bile comes out their mouths...
so I'm betting Republican liver is actually quite juicy and sweet... almost pristine.

11. I never think to put cream cheese on a cracker and toss on a sauce.
Simply never enters my head.

3. Didn't the Repugs do their reviewing behind closed doors...
with no Dems allowed? My memory is getting hazy, but I seem to recall that happening several times.

It's as though they have been given instructions to obstruct everything in any way they can AND be sure to get plenty of publicity with the backdrop of as many other Repugs as you can gather together before the cameras begin rolling.

Imagine that!

12. Schiavo legislation, anyone?
Sorry, I see their lips moving, but all I hear from the Republicans is "Blah, blah, blah, I'm a whiny ass titty baby who can dish it out, but I can't take it."

One of Lao Tzu's basic rules in the Art of War is, "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." If this legislation is so horribly, irretrievably bad for the country, the Republicans can just sit back and let it collapse, and take advantage of Democratic bungling in 2010.

Unless of course, their greatest fear, and the greatest fear of their own self-appointed Sauron, is that the legislation will begin to clean up the humongous economic mess the Republicans inflicted on the country, and people will be more solidly in favor of Democratic policies and solutions than they already are.

Whaddya think?

17. The headline and the article don't seem to go together
The headline is directed at the GOP, but the question she is responding to and the answer seems directed at the president.

Of course, it's not the first time the HuffPo didn't make sense.
