Fmr. First Lady Barbara Bush has heart surgery
Source: ABC

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Former First Lady Barbara Bush has undergone open heart surgery.

The elder President Bush's Chief of Staff, Jean Becker, described the surgery as very routine.

Becker said she talked to Barbara Bush, who is in the ICU. Her husband is with her, Becker said.

She described the former first lady as "alert and funny."

Spokesman Jim McGrath said the surgery was taken as precautionary step after doctors found hardening on one part of her aorta last week.

Doctors had been tracking this hardening and determined they didn't want to wait.

not unlike your daily domestic routine...ponder the state of this nation 'you love'...try to get your head and newly-fixed heart around the situation for ALL 300 MILLION Americans in total...

how's that 'beautiful mind' process the true facts?

how sad that you are most likely truly proud of your boy(s)...and the jobs they have done...

at what level does the plundering dull the senses to the point that abject failure is still something to find pride in?

yeah, babs, those are YOUR BOYS...YOURS...

From 2005

<snip>
The former First Lady's remarks were aired this
evening on American Public Media's "Marketplace"
program.

She was part of a group in Houston today at the
Astrodome that included her husband and former
President Bill Clinton, who were chosen by her son,
the current president, to head fundraising efforts for
the recovery. Sen. Hilary Clinton and Sen. Barack
Obama were also present.

In a segment at the top of the show on the surge of
evacuees to the Texas city, Barbara Bush said: "Almost
everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to
Houston."

Then she added: "What I’m hearing which is sort of
scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is
so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you
know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she
chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."

19. There is a close connotation between a person's emotional state
and the condition of the heart. A lifetime of negativity and worry definitely took it's toll on this lady. I have a feeling Barbara Bush held in a lifetime of frustration and anger and the heart is the first place to express that pain.

She had her chest cracked open then then they messed around with her AORTA! So, did they read about it online or find out while watching the news? Holy.COW.

Barbara Bush: Things Working Out 'Very Well' for Poor Evacuees from New Orleans
