Ohio Plant Closing Early; 174 Jobs To Be Cut (Siemens Energy & Automation)

URBANA, Ohio -- Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. said it will close its circuit-breaker plant in Urbana a year earlier than expected, a move that will result in the loss of the site's 174 jobs by the end of July.

The Atlanta-based company had originally planned to keep the plant running until mid-2010.

Spokesman Michael Krampe said the economic downturn has forced the company to accelerate the closure in order to reduce costs.

He said the work will be moved to a Siemens plant in Monterrey, Mexico.

The plant, about 40 miles northwest of Columbus, makes circuit breakers and related parts for commercial and industrial use. It has been operating since the 1950s.

corporations will bring the factories to them. America is on its way to third world status. The tent cities and shanty towns are going to get mighty crowded in the warmer southern states.
