2 women who were at his home were not prostitutes, he says

A top suburban Republican said he sought a restraining order against his wife who was charged with attacking him over the weekend after she discovered he had invited two women to their Inverness home.

A police report refers to the women as prostitutes. But Gary Skoien, Palatine Township GOP committeeman and a former Cook County Republican chairman, disputed the report and said Wednesday he was working to correct it.

Skoien said two female friends were visiting around 1 a.m. Sunday, when his wife, Eni, who had returned home a bit earlier, came downstairs and attacked him.

"I was not in a compromising position other than I had friends over to my house," Skoien said.

The report filed by a Barrington-Inverness police officer says Eni Skoien became angry when she discovered that "Gary was downstairs in the children's playroom with two prostitutes." The report says Eni Skoien picked up a guitar and swung it at her husband and punched him with her fist.

12. This is the part that gets me...

Apparently, this couple was going through a rough patch, still living in the same house but for all practical purposes separated.

Now, I acknowledge that it is possible for a married man to have platonic female friends. Heck, I'm the platonic female friend of a couple of married guys. So it is possible to have women who are just friends over for a nightcap or something along those lines. But, they weren't in the living room, dining room or kitchen. They were the basement. Away from the rest of the house. Sounds fishy.

Did anyone else hear Stephanie Miller this morning? Someone called in claiming to be a friend of the wife. I believed her because she got the woman's unusual first name right. This person said that Skoien had cheated on his wife before.
