Kuwait explores nuclear cooperation with France

PARIS: A Kuwaiti nuclear expert said a recent visit by a Kuwaiti delegation to French nuclear facilities was "very fruitful." The nuclear team accompanied visiting Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. The visit to French nuclear installations is primarily aimed at exploring French nuclear capabilities for peaceful purposes and possible French-Kuwaiti nuclear cooperation, nuclear team head Ahmad Beshara said. During the tour of the French facilities, the Kuwai
ti delegation met with nuclear officials and experts.

They have confidence built on bases in the nuclear energy field for peaceful purposes and have long experience and are even pioneers in this field worldwide," he said. Although some countries suspended their nuclear programs due to political and popular problems, especially after the Chernobyl incident, France has maintained its nuclear activities on the basis of safe, secure, firm and developed technologies, he said.
