Feds clear way for NYC's Bloomberg to run again
Source: AP

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's change to city term-limits law won approval from the federal government Tuesday, clearing the final hurdle for the billionaire to run for a third term this year.

Under the Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department must approve modifications to voting rules in New York City as a way to prevent those changes from discriminating against voters.

Last fall Bloomberg persuaded the City Council to extend the term limits law so that he could run for a third consecutive four-year term. He began exploring the idea of running again after he decided last year not to launch an independent bid for president.

Opponents argued in letters to the Justice Department that the change to term-limits law discriminates against minorities.

1. if he was a true patriot, he'd volunteer to help a new mayor transition-in and act as their advisor
but it's the power he craves, not the service to the city

4. just more of the disney-ification of the rest of new york.
he has destroyed that city. gouliani, started the process with his homeless ethnic cleansing and now bloomass is finishing the process by tearing down the landmarks and putting up over priced yunnie cubes.

in a city that is now actually cutting rents, it's really hard to justify his brand of stupidity. Not there was a way to justify it before, but with the repukes on the ropes, it's really hard to imagine this tool actually helping the poor.

I bet mr. I fucked up on 9/11 gouliani is 5 shades of green with jealousy. "but I ran around and looked important on 9/11!! what did bloomberg do???"

such a tragic comedy for NYC.
