Activists protest bonuses at AIG executives' homes
Source: Associated Press

A busload of activists — outnumbered 2-to-1 by reporters and photographers — are paying visits to the homes of American International Group Inc. executives in Connecticut to protest tens of millions in bonuses awarded by the company.

About 40 protesters parked at a cul-de-sac Saturday afternoon and walked to the Fairfield home of Douglas Polling. They were met on the curb by two security guards, and one activist read a letter detailing the financial struggles that many Connecticut residents have faced. The group then left the note in Polling's mailbox.

Polling already agreed to forfeit his bonus, but the protesters want AIG executives to do more to help working families.

AIG has received more than $182 billion in federal aid.

2. Here is where a hell of a lot of the AIG money goes:
The insurance defense lawyers. They are the ones the insurance company pays for to make sure injured people get screwed and property damages do not get paid.

If you are in the LA area, there are the MAJOR insurance defense law firms.

7. I'm sure a list of their kids and what schools they attend will be the next thing put out.
The lynch mob is gathering strength. Meanwhile the money to AIG counter-parties continues to flow...

9. And how about those 'never -to be taxed shelters' Reagan
managed to obtain in 1981 for the 'Capitalist Aristocrat's' offspring? Untaxed money set aside (sheltered) for the future capitalist's generation.

8. This is good.
More Americans need to relearn the truth that democracy is not a job you can get done just by voting on election day; you need to be in the ugly faces of the jackels and warmongers and oppressors of all kinds, all the time. The French have it down pretty well; they are in the streets when they need to be. Aux armes, citoyens!

14. what a bunch of morans.i assume that it was a short-bus load of activists.
instead of releasing the names of the execs recieving the bonuses, they should put out the actual terms of the various bonus agreements, so that the idiot mobs can become at least somewhat informed as to what they've been cajoled into protesting about.

16. You can't really blame them

Alot of anger about the wall street bullshit thats been going on, and no outlet for it. At least no ones gotten hurt.

Oh, and anger really isn't a part of the thinking brain.

"they should put out the actual terms of the various bonus agreements, so that the idiot mobs can become at least somewhat informed as to what they've been cajoled into protesting about."

I don't think anyone really cares about the conditions, and what do they matter anyways? They fucked everything up, and now they're using taxpayer money to give themselves a pat on the back.

17. so- apparently they were serving kool-aid on the bus...
what flavour?

the conditions matter because many of them may well have earned those bonuses. they're not all tied to company performance, after all.
as for the 'using taxpayer money' meme- it was a LOAN. and my personal feelings sbout loans is that once you give someone the money- it's no longer your business what they do with it, as long as they pay you back.

"They fucked everything up, and now they're using taxpayer money to give themselves a pat on the back."

so- you know for a fact that all the ones getting the bonuses are the very same ones directly responsible for all the fuck-ups...?
do you have a link to your source material?

or- are you just playing along with the crowd?

18. "Left a note in Polling's mailbox." Umm... I hate to be nit-picky, but...
Only a postal officer may put anything into a mailbox. They broke Federal law. They should have taped it to the mailbox.
