Rep Frank calls Scalia a "homophobe" in an interview
Source: AP

Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank called Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia a "homophobe" in a recent interview with the gay news Web site 365gay.com.

The Democratic lawmaker, who is gay, was discussing gay marriage and his expectation that the high court would some day be called upon to decide whether the Constitution allows the federal government to deny recognition to same-sex marriages.

"I wouldn't want it to go to the United States Supreme Court now because that homophobe Antonin Scalia has too many votes on this current court," said Frank. The video of the interview is available online.

Frank's office did not respond to a request Monday to expand on his remark. Scalia also had no comment.

5. He is a fundamentalist
and a christo-fascist.

Not just anti gay, but anti choice, for school prayer, displaying religious symbols on government property, pro NRA, etc....

I hope he retires soon...

12. and he pretends to think the Constitution...
....should be interpreted like it was still the 18th century.

This is so dumb, that he of course does no such thing....but it seems to be the generic excuse for ignoring 200 years of history and happenings and applying unbelievable pretzel logic when it comes to unfair rulings.
His "I'm a hypocrite" pantie line really shows when you see how he cares nothing for the original Pledge of Alegence....sans "under God". We must interp the Constitution exactly as intended 200 years ago, but the original Pledge is not good enough?

19. So I imagine there's a good chance he'll have retired by 2016.
I don't necessarily think he'll die (and can't quite bring myself to wish it), but a 73-year-old man carrying around that much extra weight can't be in the sturdiest of health. I predict he'll step down due to a heart condition.

Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 09:31 AM by No Elephants
will never retire with a Democrat in the White House.

Justice Douglas (RIP) was practially in a coma and he would not retire. Amazing how much the Justices' law clerk can do for them.

45. He is a homophobe
He has said that gay kindergarten teachers might induce children to become homosexuals, has compared homosexuality to murder, cruelty to animals, or polygamy, and has said that laws against gay sex served the same interest as laws against bestiality and incest.

Seriously, I think those who put him in place and have done favors for his sons, etal

will expect him to stay to represent their interests!!!

He especially wouldn't leave during a Dem administration--!!!

34. He said relatively recently said that he does not believe in retirement. I think
the pig loves the power and perqs way too much to step down voluntarily. Besides, if Scalia leaves, how on earth will Thomas know how to vote?

choice lobby was also not shouting out against Scalia. We reap what we sow applies here, imho.

It is also his vanity license plate, engraved on his watch and monogrammed on his boxers.

35. I don't know why Frank singled out Scalia. The conservative Catholic wing of the
Supreme Court would probably all vote the exact same way on gay marriage.

I sure do hope Obama knows some Democratic judges who are not "moderate," like his first judicial appointee.

37. I'd call Scalia an Evil Penis Brain. He can't stop thinking about Evil Penises.
In his mind all Penises are evil, he and Saint Paul are tight that way: Must. Not. Think. About. Penises... Gay Penises. NOooooo!!!!!

Scalia and Clarence Thomas, wherever they go, there's a permanent thought bubble penis floating over their heads, although I will say this for Thomas, sometimes his thought bubble penis makes him smile.
