Seniors to receive $250 stimulus check in May
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — An estimated 50 million Social Security recipients
will receive their one-time $250 economic stimulus check in May — several
weeks ahead of schedule, Vice President Joe Biden announced Thursday.

Biden also announced the distribution of $3.2 billion in new funding for
state and local energy efficiency programs from the Department of Energy.

The checks to Social Security recipients, worth a total of $13 billion,
“will make a big difference in the lives of older Americans and people with
disabilities - many of whom have been hit especially hard by the economic
crisis that has swept across the country,” Biden said in a written statement.

The energy efficiency funds will come in the form of “formula grants for
projects that reduce total energy use and fossil fuel emissions,” according to
a separate White House statement.

1. That $250 will go, in most cases, directly to Big Pharma.
Or credit card companies.

4. I need new glasses.
My Medicare supplement has vision coverage but glasses aren't free. I'll be using my $250 to pay for them.

18. unless you don't have a paycheck coming in!
We ran out of unemployment and haven't been able to find jobs so this isn't going to help us.

7. Do we have to fill out a tax form to get this?
I won't fill out any form that in the future could be used against me. I could use the money but will not lose what little I have left of my privacy.

12. No forms necessary
If you receive a social security check now you will receive the $250.00 in the same manner, if you have direct deposit that is how it will come, if you receive a check in the mail that is how it will come to you...You do not have to do anything more,it is all automatic.

13. Being on disability myself, I would rather they had
....... readjusted the monthly benefit amount by increasing it by 5%.

SS recipients have been getting the shaft since the late 80's when the government tinkered with the CPI index to make inflation look lower than it really has been.
