Obama to CEOs: 'Show some restraint'
Source: Politico

Obama said he told the executives, according to an interview he taped Friday with Bob Schieffer of CBS News.
"Show that you get that this is a crisis and everybody has to make sacrifices."

Obama said the bankers concurred. However, the president sounded a bit wary about whether they would actually follow through.

"They agreed and they recognize" the problem, Obama said, before adding skeptically, "Now, the proof of the pudding is in the eating."

In the interview, Obama also discussed his new strategy to try to drive the Taliban and al-Qaida from Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"This is going to be hard," the president said. "I am under no illusions, if it was easy it would already have been completed and so we're going to have to go with a strategy that is focused, that is narrowly targeted on defeating al-Qaida."

Should be an interesting interview - hopefully some subjects that weren't covered at Press Conference & Town Halls will get discussed.

2. When they start to lower my CC rates....
I'll believe it when I see it....and that is when they start lowering my credit card interest rates and start increasing my small business line of credit. I;m one of thsoe that has never ever been late and never missed a payment and I'm still being hosed. Good luck with these guys....we'll see....maybe...

3. Show some restraint?
That's similar to the Ian Malcolm character in the "Jurassic Park" films--asking the
velociraptors to control their vicious penchant for killing everything, "Yes, I know
you guys like to devour whole cows in minutes, but could you please, this time, show
some restraint?"

5. And if you dont, we will stop our feet and get red in the face.
Get real. What incentive do they have? When have they ever shown restraint. Sheesh.

7. What can Obama say in an interview like that?
"I told these CEOs that I'm sending NSA agents to come after them and their families if they don't behave"?

8. but they already made huge sacrifices
They cut the detail painting on their new private jets, for cripes sake. Also, fired the part-time assistant to the assistant gardiner at vacation home #12.

Seriously. This is painful. How much can we expect from the poor guys. They've given up so much already. :sarcasm:

10. "Show that you get that this is a crisis and everybody has to make sacrifices."
They'll "sacrifice" all right. Probably to the tune of laying off 26,000 more workers between them all.

"It was a sacrifice we were ALL willing to make."

As for their fortunes, or perhaps a 'firing freeze' that would at least put their existing workers in a better state of mind? NOT AN INCH.

12. No "shows"! You need to realize that they *must* be *forced* to do the right thing or they will not.
Regulate them, now. Jail the ones that broke the law.
