(ABC News) Exclusive: Tearful Allen Stanford Expects Indictment in Two Weeks
Source: ABC News

In First Interview Accused Financier Denies Ponzi Scheme, Drug Cartel Connection

Flamboyant financier 'Sir' Allen Stanford expects to be indicted by a federal grand jury in the next two weeks, he told ABC News in an interview in which he cried, denied wrongdoing and threatened to punch his questioner in the mouth.

"I would die and go to hell if it's a Ponzi scheme," Stanford said in reaction to civil allegations from the Securities and Exchange Commission that he bilked thousands of customers in an $8 billion fraudulent scheme involving "self-styled certificates of deposits" with "improbable" rates of return.

"Baloney. Baloney," Stanford told ABC News. "It's not a Ponzi scheme. If it was a Ponzi scheme, why are they finding billions and billions of dollars all over the place?"

2. You know what? I actually agree with Sir Allen. It wasn't a Ponzi scheme. More like $ laundering
for powerful interests connected with the government per some very, very astute DU threads lately. I don't have the time (or star) to search for them right now but there's been a couple of really fascinating threads linking people like Stanford, the French financier who suicided himself, Madoff, Abramoff, and others with some serious protection from the powers that be.

I'm beginning to believe none of this was a Ponzi scheme at all. False front "charities", shadowy connections to powerful "investment groups" like the Carlyle Group and more... people like Madoff and Sir Allen Stanford doing fraudulent business for decades with the SEC being purposefully told to stand down on investigating them.
