Horizon Air Flight Diverted to Sac, 6 Passengers Injured
Source: KXTV ABC News10 Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA - A Horizon Air flight travelling from Los Angeles to Reno diverted to Sacramento International airport Tuesday evening after six passengers suffered minor injuries due to strong turbulence.

Flight #2246 made the emergency landing around 7:00 p.m. The injured passengers were given medical care at the airport, said Gina Swankie, spokesperson for Sacramento International airport. No major injuries were reported.

Swankie said that particular plane would not continue to Reno until tomorrow. Another Horizon Air flight travelling from Seattle to Reno was scheduled to stop and pick up the 40 passengers sometime Tuesday evening.

2. That's pretty scary - I hate those little planes
We had some thunderstorms here on the Central Coast earlier today, I guess there was some more intense stuff scattered around the Sierra...

7. listening to the air traffic controllers
flying in to SFO yesterday evening (one of United's features I like - they often make the cockpit transmissions available to passengers) it sounded pretty scary - they mentioned some flights had injuries. It's not a good sign when they order the flight crews to strap in, but the air traffic controllers managed to guide us around the worst of it.

11. The flight to and from Hawaii from the mainland is
notorious for strong turbulence. I do my best to sleep through it.

8. I don't know if it's just me but
it seems that in the last decade or so, the winds where I live have gotten a LOT stronger. I live in Maryland, just northwest of DC. I've lived here about 30 years and the winds were usually mild in early spring and fall. But lately, they seem to have picked up in frequency and strength. Sometimes I wonder if the results of global climate change means that the winds will continually increase leading to an increase in the number of airline emergencies.

10. Alex..my wife and I were having this exact conversation the other day...
Discussing how will G.C.C. impact air travel.

More delays.

More strong turbulence as traditionally calm routes experience more unexpected weather, etc..
