LOS ANGELES, April 9 (Reuters) - Two train cars carrying hazardous liquid derailed into a local waterway south of Los Angeles early on Thursday, fire officials said.

One of the cars carrying an alcohol-based material had leaked but the leak had been contained, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

No injuries were reported.

1. As if we don't have
enough water problems due to our drought. I hope this doesn't lead to any long term contamination.

2. If I'm not mistaken the waterway is lined with concrete. The contamination can be captured down
stream. Most likely will not seep into the ground.

3. That's the San Gabriel I believe. Flows about a quarter mile from here.
I hope they do contain it upstream.

6. Probably some sort of industrial solvent
The derailment happened in the middle of a huge industrial park and manufacturing area.
