Strikes 'kill 27 Afghan Taleban'

At least 27 suspected insurgents have been killed by international forces battling Taleban rebels in Afghanistan, the US-led coalition has said.

A coalition statement said air strikes killed 15 insurgents in Helmand province and another 12 in Uruzgan following attacks on two patrols.

Earlier, the coalition said five suspected militants were killed in an operation in neighbouring Kandahar.

Friday's violence flared in volatile areas of southern Afghanistan where US President Barack Obama plans to deploy thousands of new troops to battle the Taleban.

2. They usually state how many women and children are in the body count
Taliban have also been active in the failed state of Pakistan. but they don't include 'civilians' killed in action.
