Fishing Boat, 2nd Boat Collide Near Cape May
CAPE MAY, N.J. (AP) ―

The Coast Guard is responding to assist a commercial fishing boat disabled after a collision with another vessel about 50 miles southeast of Cape May.

A Coast Guard spokesman says no one among the eight-member crew of the 71-foot fishing boat Dictator was reported injured and the boat was not taking on water. But the collision shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday damaged the boat's rudder, leaving it unable to sail under its own power.

Petty Officer Chris McLaughlin, a Coast Guard spokesman, says a Coast Guard cutter, two helicopters and a C-130 aircraft were dispatched.

McLaughlin said the identity of the second vessel was not immediately known.
