'Tea Party' location irks veterans(Pittsburg, Kansas)

PITTSBURG — For 17 months during the Korean War, Bob Roberts took part in combat missions as a soldier in the United States Army.

After reflecting on his time in uniform on Monday, Roberts said, “That makes me a really old geezer.”

It also makes him something else: a veteran. And it’s for the latter that he has a problem with tomorrow’s “Taxpayer Tea Party” to be held at the Veterans Memorial at Pittsburg State University.

It’s not the message he takes issue with, but rather the location.

“This is something that really upset me,” he said. “The Veterans Memorial, as far as I’m concerned, is hallowed ground. To have a partisan, political ‘tea party’ there really offends my sensibilities.”

Good for you Mr. Roberts and all the other veterans speaking against holding a "Tea Party" at a Vetern's Memorial!

and these douchebags are going to end up alienating more people than they ever dreamed with their obnoxious attitudes and blatant stupidity.

I love it...............

2. The right thinks that they own the military and all things connected to it.
We have more veterans at DU than rim job has at freak republic.

3. The irony is that they love wars as long as they can duck out of service.

4. You are 110% Right!
The Republicans think they can use the military for everything as if they own it. I really hope the days of them using our veterans as pawns in their fear campaigns is over.

7. I agree with Mr Roberts
I would be curious if the people who agree with him here at DU would agree if he was talking about an anti-war protest

11. I would agree.
I would be offended by an anti-war protest in front of the Viet Nam war memorial. Even though I hated that war, I respect those who died in it.
