New NATO chief is Islam's "major enemy" - Taliban
Source: Reuters

KABUL, April 16 (Reuters) - Afghanistan's Taliban insurgents say the incoming NATO chief is the "major enemy" of Muslims for defending the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad when prime minister of Denmark.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Danish premier until earlier this month, is due in August to become secretary general of NATO, which leads a 56,000-strong international force fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The publication of the cartoons in a Danish newspaper in 2006 led to riots across the Muslim world, including bloody protests in Afghanistan in which several people were killed. Rasmussen had defended the publication of the cartoons on the grounds of free speech and refused to apologise to Muslim countries.

In an article posted on the Taliban's website (http://alemarah1.org/english/), the insurgent group said Rasmussen's appointment would "further strenghten the faith of the Muslims" to fight against NATO and would lead to "intensification of war" in Afghanistan.

2. I guess they have "major enemies" and plain ol' enemies.
For some reason, when I read the story "A Major Award!" popped into my head.

Hey, he's "A Major Enemy!"

4. Good point.
Have you ever seen a more miserable, angrier group of people in your life? They are just filled with hatred for everyone and everything.

3. I like him
All I really need to know is that he is a "Major Enemy" of the Taliban and that does it for me. He must be good! Especially if he defended those cartoons. If the Taliban wants to leave this planet then by all means they should feel free to build an interstellar vehicle and LEAVE! Otherwise Islam will need to figure out how to get along in the global community like everyone else and stop behaving like a group of angry two year olds with guns.

8. A sign the Taliban is starting to jump the shark...
Since our level-headed President as started to dispell the whole "Great Satan" notion, they have to whip up another "major enemy", quickly. It's all they've got.

9. Islam has no enemies.
The Taliban and other extremists like them have taken holy words and twisted them to suit their needs. If anything, the Taliban is the "enemy" of Islam.
