Fox News Files Freedom Of Information Request With Department Of Homeland Security Over Right Wing Extremist Threat

The Huffington Post has obtained a letter from Fox News to the Department of Homeland Security requesting they release the entire report on the right-wing extremists identified as a national security threat.

The letter, sent Wednesday from Senior Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs Dianne Brandi, was sent pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security issued a report saying that right-wing extremists could use the bad state of the U.S. economy and the election of the country's first black president to recruit new members to their cause.

In the letter, Fox News requests "any and all documents that contain factual material or compiled factual material that the relied upon" to make the conclusion that right-wing extremists pose a national security threat.

"Given the vast amount of discussion and concern for domestic terrorism and the equal quantity of discourse over the possible compromise of America's constitutional rights, Fox News has a particular urgency to inform the public about the facts behind this much-discussed Assessment."

1. Uh-huh. I'm sure they care about informing the public.
Why bother sending them the report? They'll just make stuff up because they know their rabid fans won't bother to read the whole report in context anyway.

And I wonder... did they request the report on "left wing threats"? I doubt it.

12. I was being a bit sarcastic. Legally, they have the right to know.
But we all know they aren't going to report what was actually in the report, just their whining and lying.

25. Why would they read the one on threats from the left wing? Everyone knows that everyone
who is not a neocon PNACer is a threat to the United States of America, with President Obama being perhaps the number one threat. So why would anyone have to examine a report on that subject? DUUHHHH.

(I don't really have to put the sarcasm icon here, do I? You got it, right?)

29. No. The only ex military who are threats to Ammurika are tho ones who
oppose any war or all wars, vote Democrat, remain sane, refuse to wear flag pins, flinch at war crimes, respect what the Constitution says and expect others to do the same, etc. Shame on you for implying otherwise.

27. So, this is the one report that they want made public? Cause everytime anything else becomes
public, they claim making info public gives aid and comfort to the enemy. (And the enemy apparently is everyone but them, Dick Cheney and a few other mouth breathers--Dummya, of course having been declared a liberal.)
