Bristol Palin's ex: Court fight possible over son
Source: AP

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The father of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's grandson said Wednesday he would be willing to go to court for custody of the child, but he hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Levi Johnston said on CNN's "Larry King Live" that he and 18-year-old Bristol Palin do not have a formal court agreement over visitation rights for their baby son, Tripp.

Bristol Palin, the governor's oldest daughter, gave birth Dec. 27 and the unmarried teenage parents broke up soon after that. Johnston has claimed in several national TV interviews that Bristol has limited his access to the baby.

"I can go over there and see him," Johnston said. "But it's, now you know, it's kind of an uncomfortable thing for me to go over there. You know, I want to be able to take him and that kind of thing, go do the father thing with him and I can't."

Johnston said he is not in a "big fight with the Palins." He still likes the family and wants to work out an arrangement over Tripp, whom he said he hasn't seen in a couple of weeks.

2. Go Levi! Hell, take it to "Judge Judy." After Jerry Springer, of course.
Cue banjo music.

5. no matter what he is the child's father and Bristol will have him in her life forever
whether she likes it or not.

There should be a formal agreement set up and they should stop being so petty. He should also keep off the talk show circuit. One day that kid is going to be old enough to read and view this debacle in retrospect and it would be better to try and clean it up before it gets worse.

6. I guarantee that this is going to be resolved in time for Sarah's run in 2012
"Johnston said he is not in a "big fight with the Palins." He still likes the family and wants to work out an arrangement over Tripp, whom he said he hasn't seen in a couple of weeks."

Any ugliness will be old news and forgotten by the time Sarah throws her hat in the ring and I fully expect to see Levi on the campaign trail (side by side with Bristol each doting over their child).

8. I see a slightly different scenario....
Bristol married off to a semi-prominent Republican's son...
..and little Tripp....out and about with mommy and
new daddy.

Edited on Thu Apr-23-09 11:30 AM by Mike Daniels
It's going to be pretty hard to drag Bristol and Tripp around as campaign camera candy if Bristol's still single esp. if Bristol's not working and still living with/off the family.

I don't see that anyone of any notable prominence will want to risk getting tied into the Palin family circus though. "Mr." Bristol will probably end up being tied into the "first dude's" work or her brother's circle

14. Mom likes to ship them off...oldest (Tracks) was shipped off to cover up..
a vandalism... Then shipped off, again, for an election photo op.

I believe she could ship Bristol and baby off to some third rank operative
in the repug schema..

7. lol! thank god we are not seeing this played out at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
although it might have been amusing to see the neocon psychobabble explanation for why VP Palin's grandson's custody battle is a family value.

18. I'd be more interested in if they'd feel the same way if Bristol was poor and non-white
If Bristol didn't have her family to fall back on economically is there any doubt that she'd be on some sort of government assistance?

20. He won't get custody. He absolutely cannot show the best interest of the
child with that outcome. He will get some visitation, perhaps alternate weekends, couple of weeks in the summer, split the holidays in alternate years.

And of course, he will be paying child support.

Nothing at all strange or unusual about the case. Millions of children live under these agreements right now. If he were very serious about anything, he would already have been paying support and wanting to do something for the child. It's fun for someone who's a nobody, really, just like me, to go on national media and make all sorts of plans.

But that's about the end of the excitement.

Now on to the lifetime project of raising a child.

22. Even more interesting than his one attorney is
The other guy who is representing Levi. A guy named Tank Jones. People over at the mudflats blog were providing the guy's background...he is a private investigator who has dug up info on cheating spouses, insurance fraud suspects, spouse-to-be investigations, and other cases.
The Palins are probably shitting their collective designer underpants after that was shared last night. All offered up was his name but bloggers were googling him right afterwards. If the Palins don't cooperate, they may see some of his work firsthand in court and THAT alone would have us going thru a few pounds of popcorn..probably would make what bloggers have dug up on the Palins escapades look like Sunday School reading material. Maybe we will finally get to the bottom of the Sarah/Trig/Bristol/Tripp mystery.
I'm betting Palin will settle before it makes it to court. Or if Alaskans are really lucky, will resign to deal with this as a "private citizen" and to "spend time with her family"

Edited on Thu Apr-23-09 09:35 PM by burning rain
Sarah Palin's treatment of him has been extremely low class, welcoming him as part of the clan and using him in the campaign, then kicking him in the pants after she and McCain had lost. At the same time I'm glad for Bristol Palin that they're not going through with the marriage; that clearly would have been ill-considered. I wish her all the best, poor dopey kid.
