(GOP Congressman) King: Torture trial should spark "scorched earth"
Source: Politico

New York Republican Rep. Peter King thinks his party needs to go nuke if Bush era officials are prosecuted on torture charges.

King, the outspoken ranking member of the House homeland security committee, said Republicans should "shut down activity across the board" if any Bush-era officials are hauled into court.

"We would need to have a scorched-earth policy and use procedural means to bring the place to a halt — go to war," he told POLITICO.

He added:

"If we have another 2,000 people killed, I want Nancy Pelosi and George Soros, John Conyers and Pat Leahy to go to the funeral and say, 'Your son was vaporized because we didn’t want to dump some guy's head under water for 30 seconds.'"

The United Nations is set up to investigate war crimes, the only way to be sure it is not political would be to turn it over to the United Nations, just as they would if it was some third world country.

16. Who trained al Queda?
It wasn't really "Charlie Wilson's War" it was George HW Bush's war - our CIA trained the Taliban and of course some split from the Taliban and joined Osama bin Laden and became al Queda.

Cute movie. Not so cute reality.

7. What a vile excuse for a human being
In a civilized society there is no excuse for torturing ANYONE and that includes terrorists and their supporters. It even includes those who funded the IRA terrorists who were killing my fellow citizens in the 70s and 80s; but I would nevertheless suggest that those who did might keep their fucking mouths shut on such subjects!

Suggesting that those who support terrorism should be tortured, when he has done so himself.

Of course he has the right to say whatever the fuck he wants, but others have the right to point out his hypocrisy.

I point out my own government members' hypocrisies daily.

under water" are on Bush and King, then?

Including two of my former students.

So how many of those funerals did this fucker go to and say

"Your son (or daughter - just like a fucking Pub to marginalize women) was vaporized because we tortured people"?

Apparently King has a fervent wish for the Republican party to commit suicide. It can't come soon enough for me.

Fuck-fuckity-fuck-fuck-fucker!

48. To take King's position to its logical conclusion
we should be prosecuting members of the Bush Administration for their failure to "dump some guy's head under water" in the eight months leading to 9/11.

Moreover, every ethical breach in Congress could be prevented by "dumping some guy's head under water for 30 seconds". If King believes that waterboarding is a reasonable and effective way of extracting important information from a person, then we could beef up our campaign finance reform agenda by waterboarding members of Congress and the Senate to make sure they aren't engaging in graft and malfeasance.

Waterboarding is no big deal so you wouldn't mind subjecting yourself to it, would you Rep. King?

. . . Americans who are committed to upholding the law and preserving our government.

Instead of running scared, start a list. Get the torture defenders in Congress on the record with their Un-American lunacy. Expose them as the immoral, Un-American, and dangerous people they are.

It won't take long for membership in the "torture team" to dwindle to the levels that membership in the "Bush Team" did in the years following Katrina. (i.e., 20-25%)

This is precisely the kind of "divisiveness" that can finally put this country back on the path to creating "a more perfect union."

37. Where is his Jerry Falwell-sense of justice? Won't America be punished for torture?
If we don't punish the evil-doers then we are complicit and everyone will be punished. Yet that is not completely right is it? Where is the justice if innocent people are punished for the actions (or inaction) of a government that is run by Fraud Street?

But, according to this Yahoo, we WILL be punished by the Wing nutbaggers if we do in fact punish the evil-doers (torturers). Conclusion? Do what's right. Damn the nutbaggers, full speed ahead. As the election nears, they'll be too busy going after gay marriage.

45. Wouldnt it be great if all the republicans seceeded left the country to us?
Imagine it people would be judged based on their skin color, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. Drugs would be legal and regulated, addicts would get treatment instead of prison. Every American would have health care, people at the top of the income bracket would still be rich but only make 10 times what their average employee makes instead of 300 times. We would be at peace with the rest of the world, people would flock to this progressive wonderland. Religion wouldnt matter anymore, if you are great if not great, and running for office on the "Im more Christian than them" ticket you would undoubtedly loose. All Americans would be able to go to the college of their choice for free. Education would no longer be viewed as this unpleasant thing that the "elites" do, it would be a given, a Bachelors degree would be the least a person would feel compelled to do. Ethics and real morals would return to this country, no longer would we have the "fuck everyone else as long as Im getting paid" mentality. Capitalism/Trickle Down would be abandoned for a more citizen oriented American Socialism, which would be our own American style that valued freedom and the worth of an average person over ever expanding profits.

Sorry I had to dream for a second, its Friday Im off tomorrow, got me a beer and a bowl and Im feeling fine.
