Iowa Judge Asks Pharmacy Board to Look at Marijuana
Source: Associated Press

DES MOINES (AP) - A Polk County judge says a state pharmacy board must consider whether marijuana has accepted medical uses. Thursday's ruling Judge Joel Novak doesn't legalize medical marijuana in Iowa, but it requires the Iowa Board of Pharmacy to consider whether it's properly classified as a Schedule I substance.

3. Obama had nothing to do with this...
Iowa has sent Tom Harkin to the Senate since 1985 - he's one of the most liberal Senators in the country. We have a had a Democrat in the governor's office (if you count Republican-lite Tom Vilsack - and many don't) for 10 years. We have Democratic majorities in both houses of the Iowa legislature. And we just happen to have a judicial branch that is speaking up for a change.

Like many states, we have our share of "conservative" idiots, and it's a constant struggle to beat them back. The good guys are now having a small run after years of going backward.

4. Such as up in the NW corner of the state...
The corner of the state that gave us the likes of Steve King.

7. Well said
as a native Kansan I understand completely what you mean. We have our share of conservative numbnuts that get too much attention. In the meantime we elected a governor that has vetoed bills for coal plants and a ban for not labeling milk "hormone-free". Sometimes people don't appreciate the struggle that we fight in the heartland and they are surprised when they find out we're not all backward.

10. Yes
Hopefully when the time comes to nominate a new SCOTUS judge Obama will remember the state of Iowa and all the worthy judges contained within.
